I think there were alot who used it as an excuse but defensively I think many will come back but offensive wise thats a ? Until we make the hire but Blake James needs to be ready to make it rain

Cause all those 4/5* defensive kids were knocking down the door to come play for Diaz......

imo even tho the defense was putting up numbers and people loved diaz, they weren't "beating down the door" to get in because they saw the offense. kids want to win and winning cures all. as long as we make good offensive hires and the defense stays hot like it has been over the past couple seasons. kids will start to come-a-knockin soon enough

dIAZ D is what it will always be. Any team with a pulse walks right through it. BC GT Wisonsin(twice). He beats up on crap competition to make the stats look good.

we can agree to disagree on that. yes the defense looked bad in those games but GT is/was towards the top of the NCAA in rushing every season. and dont bring up their bowl game. if i had a month to prepare for the triple option i could do pretty well. imagine coaches with years of experience. plus, when the offense cant sustain drives and the defense is on the field what feels like all game, they tend to wear down through the game. thats why the pinstripe bowl looked so bad. we held Wisconsin scoreless for 38 minutes after they scored 7 points on our defense on the first drive (i dont count their 2nd td because that was basically a pick 6). if we score 2-3 times in those 38 minutes we take Wisconsin out of their game and make them try to throw the ball around. but we didnt score so our defense got tired and the power run game got stronger.

like i said we can agree to disagree on things. only time will tell as to how good/great this hire truly is. like i said as well, if we make the right offensive hires we can be looking back on this day 10 years later saying how great of a day it was

Or 2 years when we are 2 games better but still getting destroyed by good teams. I agree the O sucked...no question but 333 yards rushing knowing the QB is a backup lacrosse player.
And what about the last 3 games last year.....

didnt realize we were in shoot outs last season where the defense couldnt stop the other team to help out the offense. usually the defense got turnovers to help the offense greatly. if our defense failed our offense then ok. the only game would maybe be the wisky game last season. db's got beat like they stole something all game. but clemson? what did the offense do that game? and pitt? didnt rosier get pulled for sheriffs in that game for a drive or 2?

Toledo gave up 400+ yards....dont care what the O does....how do you give up 400 yards......just like Wisconsin.

Pitt game....3 td drives of 68 65 and 90(cant blame that on the offense) 345 yards for the game
Clemson....well we all knew we werent ready for them. D gave up 2 tds of drive of 68 and 71.....(cant blame that on the offense)
Wisconsin last year again 400 yards up 14-3 and then the D gives up 3 straight TD(2 drives of over 62 and 71)

And beside clemson these teams are not offense juggernauts

More facts, careful anyone would think we didn't just hire an elite DC...

like i keep saying we can agree to disagree. show me teams who dont give up 7 long drives. it happens against the best teams all the time.

toldeo is a spread offense who puts up yards no matter what.

pitt they scored 24 points. we scored 14. our offense couldnt do anything against a poor pitt team? how is that on the defense. have you looked at the offensive stats from that game? we didnt run the ball well at all. we were 15-36 passing total for less than 200 yards. you expect to win a game with those offensive stats?

clemson, like you said we werent ready.

and wisconsin last year. so we are up 11. if we go score for score the rest of the game with them. even if they have one more score than us we still win that game by at least 3 points. but as i said earlier, defense gets tired when offense cant sustain drives and cant flip the field when we punt the ball for a 33 yard avg

point is the offense disappeared too often over the last few seasons. or didnt even show up. look back at our big wins vs VaTech and Notre Lame, defense came up huge with turnovers all game and put our offense in plus field position

Toledo----you mean the team that only scored 17 against buffalo 15 against NIU those are some defensive juggernauts

Pitt---- you call it a poor team yet we gave up 24 points 345 yards

Wisconsin----defense gets tired when you give up long drives for TD ......which dIAZ did both years

yeah man. like i keep saying agree to disagree. we can keep talking in circles all night as i keep saying the same talking points that you glance over. if the offense can stay on the field for more than 3 and outs and if our punters can flip field positions, our defense wont be gassed by the middle of the 3rd and give up all those long drives. we score in games, we stay in games. our defense works harder because they see the offense working. tell me you wouldnt stop trying if you keep doing your job for a co-worker to let you down time after time. thats insane.

but we can end this here and revisit this in a few years if you would like.

you can be upset with the hire all you want, but i hope you dont stop rooting our boys on every saturday because you are upset with the hire.

And you keep glancing over that the defenses are giving up alot of yards in the first, second, third quarters(you can look that up under Plays )

Maybe dIAZ proves people wrong but have a feeling he will keep most of the defensive side coaches(is Banda and Patke really qualified to call plays) and he will hire a friend for OC instead of spending time to find an innovative OC
