I would have already predicted a Miami win this week. Normally, you should go against the lemmings that comprise the masses, the ones that thought we would get blown out by GT simply because we looked shi**y against the #4 ranked team in the country. Or the ones that thought we would go up to freezing cold Chicago and beat the toughest defense in college football, coached by Brian freaking Kelly, simply because we had won three straight.

In addition, the one other factor supporting the Canes this week is the fact that this is a RIVALRY game. Even in years where we were totally outmatched, we have fought and clawed to close close games, losing last year by four, winning in 2007. Since 2002, every single game has been decided by one TD or less, except for 2010. That's 10 out of 11.

So why am I hesitant to predict a Cane win? It's not because of talent, or depth, or even injuries. Those won't determine this game's fate.

It's the mental state of this team. College football is 70% about mental preparation and resiliency. That is the only thing i am concerned about. We appear to be rotating a ton of bodies, esp. on defense, so i am not worried about physical fatigue. But these kids have been on a grind mentally. Are they burnt out? Can they muster up the energy, focus, and mental preparation to take on FSU? And the X factor is those troubling reports that people in the program are whispering about USC type sanctions. If the team and coaching staff are distracted by these rumors, that is no good. No no good. And you can't really blame them too much. USC sanctions will impact this program significantly.

Bottom line...my mind says no, but my heart thinks this will be a Cane win, 26-20.

Like your optimism but I'm thinking the game will be unwatchable. IF they win......it will be epic. I'll be rooting for them but realistically ..... It's a steep STEEP challenge.

Nearly every game this year was a steep challenge. I'm still all in every game for UM just the same.

8.67 points per game. 4TDs allowed all year, best in the country.

And to think we dropped a TD pass, two on the same drive, and had a TD called back.

If we can stay within 2 scores by the 4th Quarter I think we will have a good shot at winning. Just don't get the doors blown off early. Keep the game close and make FSU start doubting themselves.

This is ridiculous. I love the Canes but we need some perspective here. FSU had a REALLY bad day against NC State. FSU is really good. Probably the most talented team we will play all year. The 2 teams we played that were in FSU stratosphere blew us out by 40 pts each. I dont think this is close although I am hopeful.

Still think Bama has the best defense in the country - ND has a very good defense but they have played a so so schedule except of Stanford who they got at home - but I agree with just about everything else Hawaiicane is selling here including the close win.

I wouldn't bet the Canes, but anybody who thinks we have no chance is flat wrong. It's FSU. No matter how good they are or how bad we are, there's always a chance our guys get jacked up enough to pull off the upset. And it doesn't hurt that their biggest strength (d-line) matches up to our biggest strength (o-line). If our o-line can get the running game going and neutralize their pass rush we should be able to score some points and hang in the game.

I don't know how many of you remember 47-0

I do.

This team isn't that bad, but they are close defensively.

I just don't want to see the kids get blown out. They play their hearts out and they obviously try very hard during the week.

But no amount of talent can make up for one glaring weakness:
