Golden this, Golden that....Golden inherited crap and is turning us into a respectable program. Yes we have some holes, but at least they are starting to be plugged up. It took Greg 5 yrs to turn us around, it took Butch 5yrs to turn us around. This is Golden's 4th yr and he's doing everything feasible to turn a crap shoot of a program that Ole' Slappy and Randy ran into the ground. They were given keys to a Ferrari and found a way to crash it into a tree 500 ft off the hwy. I give Golden a lot of credit; we've improved (record wise) on a yearly basis and if the D doesn't improve this year, I firmly believe D'Onofrio will be gone. But at least there is some excitement around this football program, but our fickle fan base find a way to trash it year in and year out.

I have said it for a while now, I am pulling for GOlden. I think he has great people skills. I think he relates to players and the community really well. I think it is only a matter of time before he really recruits at an elite level in SoFla. At least as much as one can with all the BS surrounding some of these kids. I have seen enough to be skeptical, I felt like he lost the team at the end of last season. And if he does again, something drastic surely has to change. But I like the direction he is taking the program as a whole. He gets it, its just a matter of making it happen or not. He may have some real tough choices to make this off season, or we may just turn the corner to being an elite team again... But I love some of the kids he has brought in, I like what he has done with the community, I like some of the traditions, I love that he embraces the past canes. I just need to love GAMEDAYS a lot more. Come on AG you can do it.....

I hope he turns it around. Just by looking at the recruiting aspect I think he won't because obviously the talent in the area isn't staying. What I mean is most of the elite kids are leaving, secondly if he leaves it's a two edged sword because if he goes he has developed a lot of relationships and would do well at another school who cares about football and cheat also. I really hate excuses but the Valentine miss and all the other DT misses have crippled his defense and it's why we wear out later in games and in the season. I'm not a hater or a slurped I'm just going by what my eyes see and I don't claim to be an expert, but if you lock in a lot of misses on the trail and plug those misses in its a way different Cane football team. A team that would probably beat FSU, talent can cover up coaching mishaps just look at Coker and Jimbo, dudes at Fsu wanted him gone and others on this board thought he was terrible. Me following recruiting knew it was a matter of time before Fsu became so beastly, you saw it happening through recruiting. With us I do not see that but I could be wrong.

If the defense struggles again this year and Golden cares at all about keeping this job he needs to fire Denofrio,become solely a CEO,admit he's not a densive guru and let the new DC run the D.
