I know we can, if we play our best and/or the Gatas do not.

Basically, we need to pitch, bat and field at our highest level. Would be nice if the Gatas came down from the treehouse they were in for the FSU SR.

What the heck. We are SOOO overdue for a big, Nationally relevent win, (not just in baseball but the U athletics in general), and Gatas baseball has been our Daddy for so long. Can't keep crapping out forever! We win this one!

Yes, I am calling a Canes win!

UF has a recent history of being an elite baseball program, but ALSO choking and puking eventually. (that CWS Finals choke against USC was EPIC, as was last years Regional debacle. Salt Life (Gatas Coach) has had probably the most talented team the last 6 years in the country, with no rings).

We haven't played very well in the postseason but still won when we had to. About time WE got hot.

WE win Saturday! (and the winner of Saturday's game wins the bracket)

Probably not, but I will be watching and rooting like a madman! Great year either way. Really happy with the 2015 season.

I gotta pat you on the back for your optimism Smokey, but I have a bad feeling about this one. UF is hot right now. I don't think we win this one. But if we do it will be a big win like you are saying.

Did not read but yup. Buying raz lem and steaks.

Bring in the ace man, gonna need him first game!

I'm a Cane, of course I've got the Canes over the Gators!

i mean when we played them this year both games we lost where one run games and the game we beat them was like 7-2 or something like that, But they are on fire right now. If suarez shows up on his a game we beat them

Suarez is the key. We need him to be the man Saturday. I don't think we will win the game if it's a slugfest.

Why's that? considering Miami's offensive numbers are better than theirs.
I think the two teams are pretty evenly matched and I have a good feeling about this trip to Omaha.

I think it's more likely their ace will shut us down, than the other way around, and I think their defense gives them an edge in a donnybrook though our D has been sharp as of late as well. I'm not writing us off, it's just we have been either hot or cold the last few weeks.

The big key for us offensively is making sure that our middle of the order doesn't go quiet. We need big games all the way thru Omaha from Isky/Collins/Thompson. We've picked it up in other parts of the order, but if those 3 guys are raking...we will be **** tough to beat. When those guys come up, we have to make teams pay. Personally, I'd like to swap Abreu/Collins in the order and see if we can't get Collins some better pitches to hit, but if it ain't broke--don't fix it, either.

Starting pitching as a whole has to do better as well. We can't afford another blowup like Woodrey had against VCU. Abrams and the rest of the pen will be hard pressed to repeat the type of performance Abrams put in against VCU when Woodrey didn't have it...especially against offenses we'll see in Omaha.

And we can't beat ourselves on the basepaths, either. We have to be aggressive stealing/sending runners with the right personnel. For example, if it's Eusebio...hold him up. I don't care if he is your CF and supposedly one of the fastest guys on the team...he hasn't looked like that on the bases in a long while. Guys like Heyward, Isky, Barr...sure--be aggressive w/them. They seem to have some feel for getting a good jump and running hard.

They are better than us in every category. When we played UF, that was a skeleton team BTW. They had like 3 or 4 of their key starters out.

Our fielding was superb in the SR, but we are prone to falling apart. The Gatas fielding, especially the infield, looks like Major League play.

BTW, where did they get some of those kids? A few look like they are 25, and obviously NOT from this country.

Doesn't matter! I think we win. Why? Because the U hasn't won any Nationally relevent, big games (besides in hoops) in a VERY long time. Just too many big losses in a row.

Sure, I used to think this during the Radio and Golden years (we HAVE to win a game Sometime!), and we never did win.

But this time, I'm calling it!

Canes win!

When was the last time we were NOT PWNed by UF in baseball? Even that year we swept them at Gainesville in the season, they BBQ'd us in our home regional by a combined score of like 40-2.;

To go along with that...stop with the EXTREME patience at the plate.

I know Morris wants our boys to be selective, but when the best part of your squad is offense, get the f-k after it. Hard to watch our best hitters go down 0-2 and 1-2 in order to finally decide not to take a pitch. Consistently, Collins has been the worst and Isky has been the best. Swing the fargin handle earlier in the counts as these pitchers seek to establish the strike zone early.

And lastly and most importantly, we must score more runs than the other team.

You might be on to something here.

Canes win 5-3 Make sure you eat some gator meat the day of game as that was an old tradition started by Coach K back in the day.
