Will our coaching give us separation next year in the ACC?

Think maybe Golden's third year will make a difference in terms of breaking away from the UVAs, UNCs, Marylands and other mid to lower tier ACC/Absolute bottom tier BCS teams?

Really hope so. I assume that VT will be back to 7-1/6-2 ACC records, meaning our 5-3 with losses to last place teams ain't gonna get us a ACC CG again.

The offense needs to score 35+, the defense needs to give up less than 20 and the defensive ranking needs to be in the top 50 instead of #116. Doing this, a 9-10 win season is realistic.

i love Golden, but I have yet to see any evidence that he is anything more than an average gameday coach.

FreePawn,

What is a coaches responsibility on game day? Just asking before I respond to make sure we're not measuring different things.

If we get our defensive line squared away, it won't make a **** how good of a gameday coach we perceive Golden to be.

Vag tech? G tech? NC St?

Not necessarily cupcakes either.

The UNC and UVA losses were atrocious, and in reality, for UVA we didn't have our 3 best defenders... I keep saying that the UNC loss was a kick in the sack. TO me, more so than the UVA loss.

Golden isn't some elite x's and o's coach. If we are going to pull away from other teams in the conference, it will be on his ability to amass talent, develop it, and motivate it.

The ACC is horrible, all he has to do is build a super talented roster. He's proven he can recruit and win the studs, and that he can find the hidden gems, too.

this is absolutely necessary in order for us to ever be relevant again

Golden is the man!

What really needs to be decided is whether his coordinators and position coaches are

I like what I saw from a few of them... not so much from 1-2 others
