Why top prospects continue to leave the state of Texas

Yup, but it’s the culture/mentality nowadays. It’s basically an AAU circuit and kids want to go to the best of the best for the most part. It’s less about the school/city/state pride is and all about putting yourself first above all else. Right or wrong, that’s the sad reality. You see it in college but where it’s really bad is in high school as the best kids are poached by the privates.

Sound familiar?
Sounds similar in some instances but let’s not kid ourselves, we have no where near the ****nal Texas can throw at their program and recruits.

But....

When Texas or the Aggies are on top they easily clean up instate talent....

But....

Either way just like Florida the entire state is so big and so many great kids are in the state that if you at minimum stick to a couple of powerhouse programs you should easily land a kid or two every year

When was the last time Texas was on top? ATM? Even if UF/FSU/UM were on top again, you still would have a much higher % of top kids leaving state.

Duh, been saying it for years. In particular down here where there's zero loyalty to a high school, so why would they have loyalty to the home town team?

Texas kids don't transfer as much as here, but growing up you're a Longhorn or an Aggie, no in between. Obviously he was a Texas fan growing up, but it's crazy to think that state has lost that many top recruits in recent years.

This every game on television or the net and cell phones with video chat contributes to it all as well. Going away for school isn't what it used to be.

The current playoff format doesn't help either. Hope they expand it as that'll help make some other top programs that can fight for the ship.

Your not from Texas that’s obvious....

2009 for Texas when they let Bama win their first Natty for Saban

and 2012 for TAMU when they rode high off of Johnny football and you couldn’t go anywhere in the state without seeing those #2 T-shirt fans everywhere...

Florida has been down since 2008.... FSU resurged for that nice little run from what 13-17?

You've made my point. 11-12 years. The landscape has changed in that time.

ATM is baggin' them up so I'm not sure if they are a good comp. Besides, you point to one year in how many years?

My goodness; I’ve been trying to tell u guys for yrs that the bag theory is a bull chit excuse.

Some of u live in this O&G glass house & r absolutely fixated that the big, bad boogie man carrying a brown paper bag is the reason y we can’t consistently get top recruits. Now U’re seeing what a known big booster school in UT is going through; why? B/c they ain’t producing on the field or in the draft. Guess what? USC is going through the same chit, bleeding So Cal kids & WC kids to Bama, Oregon, Washington, OSU.

Kids flocked to us not b/c of some over analyzed Pell-grant bull chit or that bytch *** Nevin Shapiro. They flocked to us b/c we were winning. We were winning & absolutely flooding The NFL w/ top rated talent. Those r the facts.

U have 3-4 yrs to provide tape to NFL scouts. Most teams will automatically give u a higher grade once u play for a top tier school. These guys r not going to risk their careers to play for home teams IF home teams ain’t producing.

No doubt the Texas university’s have **** near unlimited “resources” which makes it even more surprising.
They could fix that problem overnight. You know how many billionaire Texas oil men are boosters to that program? All they gotta do is make some drops and it's over. And with the money they have they can make sure the NCAA doesn't so much as sniff in the school's direction.

I made your point? Lol

Texas was stacking top 10 classes from 04 till 12... and the aggies had at least 3 themselves... so about a decade... with them being down the past 5-8 years and really has started to show like that article articulates that these past few classes of recruits who’ve grown up seeing underachieving Texas’s teams leave the state to “win now”

Texas maybe a football hot bed, but it also is full of Quacks, especially up the street in Austin.
@FlatlandCane is one of those quacks up in Austin ..... @FlatlandCane loves the Longhorns and

Texas roadmap:

Hire real coach
Give budget for real staff and infrastructure
Align booster support (cough)
Fix culture
Evaluate well
Show improvement on field
Win a big game
Get a good class with a couple top kids
Win more
Rub your cooch in Jimbo’s face
