Why Mark Richt Will Cleanup in 2017

its not just perception. amari cooper wanted a u offer never got it. that alone should of been a red flag on golden. cooper went to bama because miami never recruited him. joey bosa i don't believe was recruited by miami either.

miami coaches have to find the kids they really want in south florida and put the full court press on. most of them want to play at miami, even with it down. but u have to recruit the right ones.

u can't put them in positions where they have to gain 50lbs and are 2 gapping when they are best suited for a 1 gap attack scheme , which is what did to chick and chad thomas.

this staff alone is head and shoulders better. the scheme fits south florida kids better and they will go after the kids they want and nto give up recruting them just cause they may verbal somewhere. rich, kool and them are used to having to recruit against bama and osu golden and his staff weren't and lost alot of those battles.

winning will help but actually offering sf kids as main guys and not used as fall back will help also.

Stopped reading after Cooper was never offered. People post too much bullsh1t on this board.

i read interview with cooper last year. he stated he was never offered by miami. so thats where i got that.

This is going to take time he was just hired and now has to sell a "product" no ones seen yet, especially on how the defense is going to look. We're going to a have a good class this year and a even better one next year once they hit the field

I remember reading Amari's comments right after a camp or some such that he attended at UM. He said that he had tried to commit to Golden, and that Golden had told him to talk to his mother (or maybe it was his grandmother) about it. This, of course, does not mean that Amari was not being recruited.

Another one of these threads...cherry picking aside we have the same average class ranking over the last 3 years as Clemson ..who BTW beat us by 50 and played in the CFBPCG.

What's been the issue is gross mismanagement of talent and lack of development. Amari Cooper wasn't considered a can't-miss prospect. Bama developed him into a great player and one of the best in the country. Ppl weren't high on him until Al came in and his name surficed as one of the only WRs we might have been able to get in that class. Of all of the kids we didn't close on Dalvin Cook is the only one who really stands out.

Bottom line as its been said a million times is that we need to do better with the talent we've gotten and show kids that they will be developed.

If you really think about the guys we didn't get Matt thomas, ermon lane, kirland, roudolph, collins... only rpudolh and collins have made significant contributions to their teams. And that with better coaching than they would have gotten here under golden so odds are most of those guys we didn't get are bums anyway.

It's gonna take more than 1 ACC CG appearance to change the perception of Miami as a ****ty football school. It will take a
Few years of winning.

Exactly. I truly believe Richt will get us there.

I do too. It'll take some time before the blue chip recruits start coming back. But I think it'll happen.

Not about blue-chippers. See article on Butch. it's about athleticism, frame and scheme-fit.

I cant wait for Richt to make the U a school who can say if you visit other schools you might as well commit there because the gate will close once you venture out of it. Amercians don't swim to Cuba... see ya.

Weve had dozens of GOlden threads just like this..I think even the same title...can we be more original?

oh ill give u that. golden didn't do bad in recruiting. he got some real studs. chad thomas for one. then forced him to gain 40 lbs and 2 gap. same with chick, they got kayaa, coley who wasn't used enough at wr and others. the fact though is he let top notch players leave without much of a fight.

good news is richt wants to play a 4-3 attack d, he wants to take advantage of the south florida athletes not make miami, penn st south.

Got to look at enrolled rankings, and also Clemson didn't have abnormal attrition.

2015 - Clemson 9th Miami 26th

2014 - Clemson 17th Miami 12th (take out kiy Hester and drops to around 23rd)

2013 - Clemson 13th Miami 14th (no 5 star Derrick griffin, and devote bond drops class to around 26)

Clemson class rankings are lower because they sign smaller classes than most (Dabo doesn't push out the busts /5th year seniors like Saban, Jimbo, Meyer, etc. )
