Who can be our Cam Ward but on the defense?

Any transfers that can come in and immediately change the defense? I know an individual player on defense is hard to single handedly effect a game like a qb but is there anyone close who can do so?

Can Ward is Cam Ward cause he has the ball in his hands every play on offense.

On defense, it's rare for 1 guy to truly dictate the opposing offenses entire gameplan. Even Travis Hunter has been burnt this year. Teams ran to Will Johnsons side to force him to make a tackle in space. All the hype about Caleb Downs and we haven't really heard much about him.

Defenses can have a game wrecker/changer but it's not as to the effect of a QB

yes my post says that but who can turn this defense from bad to at least average?

Our best teams have had super solid Safety play. If the back end is compromised, it’s hard to play good defensive football.

Lock down the two Safety spots and our defense will be fine….yes, even with Guidry.

Think back to the 2017 team - you had a stud in JaQuan and a serviceable counterpart in Redwine. In this situation, Redwine was Meesh but we lacked the JaQuan. Not to mention that Meesh was primarily a Nickel and that’s where his success at U Dub came from.
 
Unless Myles Garrett is transferring in then no, there won’t be a Cam Ward like player on defense. Much more of a collective effort and coaching

Only other person that has that type of talent entered last year in Caleb Downs.
 
Bain was supposed to be the D leader but instead of taking a step forward, he took 2 steps back. Hopefully it was just the injury and he comes back with a vengeance in insane shape but idk..

i think a defensive player could
cam was truly an elite talent
So if we could get an elite talent
At Dt who has a suh like season
U guys remember that game against Texas
He dominated that game
Singlehandely almost won the game
Our that Clemson game with Christian Wilkins
Was playing with our oline
I guarantee our defense looks different with Harmon and not barrow
I think the primary guy we need to get besides qb
Is that dt from Kentucky
The best defense stats wise in recent years if I recall
Is that year Willis was starting
And he dominated games
oregons defense took the next step after getting Harmon
If Mario ain’t gonna fire Guidry
Then use his buyout money and offer all of it plus
All those kids we struck out on
And get that dt

Maybe we can luck in on a Sapp or Rusty or a Patrick 'n Krein duo to wreck absolute havoc on the D line....
those were the days..

I believe the safety from Purdue can do that for us. He’s a free safety that can really erase a lot of problems on the back end.

ehhh. Had a ton of sacks but wasn't a game wrecker.

Need an elite safety and middle LB ... like the Payton Wilson type of guy NC St had last year with 8 billion tackles.

I'll take any LB who isn't an absolute disaster in coverage at this point
