Which is the more attractive job? Penn State or Vanderbilt?

Been reading that Penn State offered Franklin 4 million but then Vanderbilt matched that offer. Not sure how accurate that is since this whole affair has been one big circus.

But if the offer was matched, why would Franklin choose Penn State over Vanderbilt? That school is Happy Valley is in a mess of a situation, its reputation shattered, it's in a frozen, isolated college town, fans still worship Paterno, and it will take years to get over the reduction of scholarships and back to where they can challenge the Bucknuts for the conference title. For what reason would Franklin have to go there?

If it's a stepping stone into the NFL, couldn't Franklin do the same thing right where he is? The whole situation is a mess. I hope after tomorrow we don't about PSU again for a very very long time.

PSU > Vandy. It isn't close. The fallout from the problems at PSU will fade. Vandy is never going anywhere. Franklin has probably reached his peak value at Vandy. He would be making a mistake staying too long, IMO.

I agree that Vandy has probably peaked. But I wouldn't touch Penn State with a ten-foot pole. Get out of dodge while the gettin's good I guess. This is his once chance for a big pay day.

Candy will never win big in the SEC! That being said Franklin should parlay this to another better job.

Penn St. is more attractive but with the money Vandy is tossing at Franklin to keep him shows just how hard everyone is trying now in football. With TV deals everyone has cash to spend. I feel like UM is getting left in the dust and mostly through lack of effort in the AD compared to other places.

Had this debate the other day. If he is staying long term it's PSU. But if he has nfl dreams I would stay at vandy with the raise and just win more.
