Been reading that Penn State offered Franklin 4 million but then Vanderbilt matched that offer. Not sure how accurate that is since this whole affair has been one big circus.
But if the offer was matched, why would Franklin choose Penn State over Vanderbilt? That school is Happy Valley is in a mess of a situation, its reputation shattered, it's in a frozen, isolated college town, fans still worship Paterno, and it will take years to get over the reduction of scholarships and back to where they can challenge the Bucknuts for the conference title. For what reason would Franklin have to go there?
If it's a stepping stone into the NFL, couldn't Franklin do the same thing right where he is? The whole situation is a mess. I hope after tomorrow we don't about PSU again for a very very long time.
