We have to be the most depressed 4-2 (3-0) fanbase in the entire country. lol. The ACC is garbage of course, but still, the hard work early in the season has paid off in the sense that we actually have a little cushion in the ACC and control our own destiny (only Duke and Maryland can still say that!). Making it to the ACCCG might not seem like much given how shi**y this conference is, but like David says in Prometheus:
"Big things come from small beginnings."

UNC game is 100x more important for us as a program than ND. And it's an ACC Coastal opponent so right there, the importance is even more magnified. However, it actually doesnt rank in the top 3 most important games remaining...Since UNC is ineligible for postseason play, the head to head ACC tiebreaker against UNC wont count against us even if we lose to them.

The top 3 remaining games are UVA, VT, and Duke. That's it. If we lose to UNC and FSU but win these other 3 remaining games, we will end up 6-2 in the ACC and 4-1 in the Coastal with the only Coastal loss to a non-eligible team. I think we're 90% to go to the ACCCG in this scenario. USF might be truly meaningless and if so, I would rather us play that game like a scrimmage (ie keep our starters fresh and healthy, work on our bread and butter plays) and give everything we have, including every trick play in the book, against Duke the following week. USF could be meaningful if ACC tiebreakers take into account overall record but i cant remember if this is true.

BTW, that final game against Duke could decide the ACC Coastal this year.

A couple other points:

Never ever believe in spring weight room numbers. Never. Every year, whether it's Corker, Shammin, and now Golden, we hear about how our players are getting stronger and tougher. Some moron actually compared our strength numbers to LSU or some other schite like that. I think it was Nites...lol. But NEVER EVER believe in these numbers. The common denominator behind all these bogus strength numbers is Corch Swasey. Watching our players getting blown off the ball like a bunch of preschoolers against ND, i was reminded of all this. Corch Swasey has pulled the wool over the eyes of every head coach we've hired here. This man is a silent CANCER to this team.

We dont dominate the LOS on either side of the ball. We dont impose our will. We havent done that since 2003 (on defense) and maybe the 2005-2006 defense IIRC. Our alleged weight room numbers are absolute frauds in my book. We play like PUSS*ES in the trenches.

Speaking of crappy coaches, Golden had better not be giving free passes his buddy Mark in private. It's one thing to defend him publicly, but the litany of Shammin-like excusemaking is getting really really old. It's game six. Our defense hasnt improved one bit. I said it before and it bears repeating - I thought Corch Swasey and Corch Kehoe would be the hires to sink Golden - and while they've goth played their parts (Kehoe with the atrocious run blocking), it's Corch Donofrio that is looking to be Golden's number one failure. The fact that he and Golden are buddies is extremely troubling. I'd like to think that behind closed doors, Golden is actually telling his boy to fix this **** defense or else start looking for another job. But is this hope very realistic? Does Golden have the balls that he needs to make a move that is best for this PROGRAM, and put the PROGRAM's needs above his own personal relationships?? :(
