Where the Dts at?

Recruiting on the DL has been solid but there is a very clear gap between Miami and some of the competition from both a numbers and quality standpoint. You can recruit all of the five & four star DB's and WR's but the lines win the games.

Each school has more blue chip DL talent than Miami has in total commits.

And I know there are some prospects we are in on but these schools will be adding prospects too - I think each one leads for a five star so the gap may actually increase.

Are you retarded or just a star *****? Stars don't matter when it comes to dl you dumb fu$$. Lol. Go look at how many stars rj and Norton have and they're the best duo in the country. Our dl as a whole was the best in the country, nobody rolled a better 2 deep than we did.

Plus kul turns 2-3 stars into nfl draft picks. Only a troll or a moran cares about star rankings of our dl.

Put us Up there with the big dogs? We are the big dogs.... leading the country in sacks per game; top 3 in tfls per game....
Right now teams like Clemson are the big dogs at DT...Miami hasn't reached that level...imo
Stats indicated otherwise. Our guys produce at an extremely high level. Best in the country in tfls and sacks per game. Clemson had 40 rushes for 71 yards against us...

Wilkinson and Lawrence 11 total McIntosh and Norton 1 tackle a piece...both had great years but I saw it myself in person....those two Clemson DTs are monsters!

Wilkins is a monster, lawrence is overrated imo. I like Ferrell, austin Bryant and Wilkins better than him

Dexter Lawrence is anything but overrated. That kid's legit.

He didn’t do much against us. Wilkins is much better
Oliver should go higher than him too next year. Size be damned he’s the best interior guy in the 2019 draft class

I like you provided fact to back your premise and I completely agree. We are getting there, but the trenches are where we have to stack talent to consistently be a playoff team. No coincidence that the teams you mentioned are or consistently in play for the playoff.

Yet who dline unit was the best out of that group? Clemson and Miami. This year miami was deeper than Georgia and Bama on the dline . Yeah they had higher rankings but who produced on the field and actually looked like beast? Clemson and Miami. By the way check the stats Miami is number 1 in sacks per game and top 3 in tfls per game.

Production matters>>>>> more than biased rankings coming in to highschool
Given that I am looking at this years class and the prior two, this is more of a comparison as to where we stack up going forward and how our current coaches have recruited.

In regards to this year:

1) Using sack's and tfl's as ultimate measures of productivity for a DL is beyond simplistic - especially when you're comparing a 4-3 line to 3-4 lines. Alabama (2nd in total D; 3rd in rushing D) and Georgia (4th in total D; 12th in rushing D) put out elite defenses so I'd say those lines were productive enough.

2) The Miami DL the past two years was stacked with blue chip prospects, it will probably take a couple years to get back to that (on paper).

Ultimately, my post wasn't only about star ratings, we need more bodies. The lines on both sides are areas where you can't actually over recruit as the bust and attrition rates are pretty high (EE's, academic issues, injuries, etc). In 2019, the upperclassmen DT talent will be Ford, Martin, and Bethel....that's not ideal when you're aspiring to win titles.

Hopefully the staff had alternative plans in place in case Goldwire wasn't going to come...maybe a few surprise names pop up between now and February.

Hopefully Richt helps get some, can’t count on the DT coach to land them .
