The key for next season is finding a capable JuCo DT that can be plug and play with Norton and RJ probably both leaving.

We'd have a solid depth chart of:

JuCo/Ford/Willis/Bethel

Fines is a JAG and Martin is unproven. It'd be Martin's third year in the program so hopefully he's ready to contribute. Three years is a reasonable expectation for a DT to be contributing.

Maybe one of the true freshmen we bring in can contribute for a handful of plays a game, but if we're relying on Nesta to play heavy snaps we're in trouble.

We need three this year to keep roster balance going forward past next season.

Unless the juco kid is dynamic or Ford takes a big step forwards, that group of DTs is ok but not great

Miami needs to get better....losing McIntosh and Norton without adding better or equal talent is a step backwards....The staff needs to add another big-time DT.... not another project....IMO

And before you let **** ooze out of your filthy mouth realize that Thompson is the only highly rated guy of those names and we are not in his top 5 and none of that speaks to the point of my original post which is we have only one DT committed and we are not in the final choices for any of the top 10 rated guys not named Silvera. In what is a crucial year dephtwise for a position for us that is even more crucial considering our style of defense. Instead we are scrambling for a bunch of 3 stars. Considering we had a great year that showcased our DL and Kool as DL coach that is worrisome especially when considering our recent history recruiting the DT position.

Can never recruit too many DT’s. Such a difficult position to develop or project. If you want to win championships then you need the dominate DT’s.

The top teams have recruited big-time DTs....Nesta is a start Miami needs 2 more...IMO landing Thompson would put Miami up there with the big dogs...possibly two impact frosh....Goldwire seems like a good fill in with experience....can't go wrong there at all....
