Where the Dts at?

Targetting Goldwire, Carson, Briggs, and Thompson.

Mediocre names.

Why aren’t we at least in consideration with some of the bigger names. So far this staff hasn’t prioritized this position like say Alabama or Clemson does. No coincidence they are the top 2 programs in college football right now.

Thompson is the number 2 DT in recruiting rankings (if you put weight in what a bunch of guys that were English and journalism majors think which it seems you do), Goldwire is one of the top juco DTs, Briggs has been widely considered the best DT prospect in Florida for 2018, and they're comparing Carson to McIntosh.

So which one of those names is considered a Canes Lock?

Pete says he feels good about Goldwire, although he signs in 10 days and is still committed to Louisville, so we'll see. Briggs looked like a lock until a week ago due to "miscommunication" fwiw. We have Thompson's last visit so we'll see there. Carson had a good visit but it's hard to tell where we stand.

I'm with you that we need DTs but the staff is doing what they can right now. It's a relatively weak class all together and very weak in Florida. We're trying to find a guy that fits.

Listen. You sound like the Shannon and Golden era. My point is that they can and need to do more. This year is crucial to the long term success of the program. We must break the Shannon and Golden cycle. Do what you gotta do. Drop moneybags if you have to.

Those names are better than any of the overrated scrubs that Bama and Clemson have. Star whoring is for pu$$$ies.

Fellas, we got a troll fight brewing with each troll trying to out-idiot the other. I see your preposterous take, and I raise 2 buffoonish points.

Yeah, you’re right. For the last 3 years, Clemson and Bama have been the best programs in the nation. Not to mention, have the best DL’s in the country. What do they know?

Dumbass.

Y’all got to chill

Gerald Willis
Pat bethel
Jon ford
Goldwire(juco)
Nesta Silvera
Martin
Plus De’s who can move inside like djack and dj on certain downs

Look at the list without Willis and Goldwire. One has played half of one season of cfb in 4 years, kicked out of one school, and apparently been ineligible at another. Sure the signs are pointing in the right direction but the last thing we need to do is count on him right now.

Goldwire signs in 10 days and as of right now he's still a Louisville commit.

Martin has never seen a snap and never even had his name put on a depth chart.

You got Bethel, Ford, and Silvera, and Fines. I'd say even the coaches aren't very chill about the situation right now.

Been saying that for weeks now. Spot on assessment.

Golden left us with McIntosh, Norton, Moten, and Willis. That cycle was broken before he left. We also signed Jon Ford and now Nesta Silvera. The days of irrelevant DTs is over.

We're gonna be in the situation we're looking at next year, the reason we need 3 DTs this class, because our DTs right now are so good that they're leaving early for the draft.

Fines is not anywhere near close to being an NFL draft pick. Martin's yet to play a snap at Miami as a DT. He's a RS Freshman right now, so I won't call him a JAG yet. But you can't call either of them NFL players - not even close.

Moten's probably going to be a practice team player, late round pick at best, and that's doubtful.

Thompson is the #2 DT in the country.

And mediocre names according to who? The ones who make the lists? A lot of those folks probably haven't even played football.

Coaches don't make the recruiting lists.

And Kuligowski may know a little bit about getting players that can produce.

With that said, after another year or two of Miami producing on the field in addition to having Kuligowski, he'll be able to choose just about anyone he wants.

An unreliable player and a whole lot of unproven.

This. There are a lot of posters that confuse numbers with Depth

Yep. We have the numbers, technically. But Martin and Fines shouldn't be counted as guys that will contribute at an efficient level next year. Martin's a complete unknown that can't get into the rotation, and Fines is what he is. Willis, albeit has high potential, has played only a year and a half in 4 years at the collegiate level.

Not enough, hopefully DJohnson move is full time, and hopefully Goldwire does commit...And then still need more.
