When was the last time that we had a full roster?

We haven’t been at 85 since Shannon. We won’t be at 85 this year unless we give 3-4 walkons ships that have been on campus for 2 years(no counter). Not sure that really means we are at 85 when some of them won’t play a down.

I think we're at 81 scholarships players right now which is a little skewed because that's counting walk-ons who were awarded scholarships like Marshall Few and Jimmy Murphy. Then you take into account Jaelan Phillips who is sitting out this year and injuries to Steed and Wilder, we are in the neighborhood of 76 available scholarship players going in to this year which is still a low number for a major P5 school.

Nobody has the full 85 players. There's too many variables for a program to have exactly 85 players every year. Guys transfer, leave early, get kicked off the team and it's impossible to foresee exactly how many players will be affected. You have to leave yourself a bit of a window so most programs run with between 80-83 guys on scholarship.

Full Rosters are a myth. No school truly has one. Some might have them because they give out last minute scholarships.

I had seen the gator had been projected to have 85 for this season before their non qualifiers/transfers. Getting exactly 85 is hard but most schools are closer to it than we have been

All schools have full rosters, you just give out scholarships to walk-ons to get to 85.

You need to be at 85 scholarships to take advantage of the replacement rule under the Initial Counter provisions.

Obviously, that's not "85 recruited players", but almost nobody hits that mark, and certainly not every year.

We had 67 WRs on Shannon's team and Matt Bosher.

These posts are right on the money.

Now I’m not saying we have been maximizing the number of roster positions that we have available to us. We haven’t been. But if you can get anywhere around over 81, taking into account unpredictable attrition, then you’re doing well.

But a full 85 of recruited players? That never happens. As was stated above, too many variables. People get kicked off, they fail to qualify academically, they transfer, or leave the program for other reasons, etc.
