What are the chances UM never makes public the NCAA sanctions levied against them? Is it possible the university already has been notified?...while speculation on boards and amongst those 'not in the know' of the what's and the how many's continues to keep coming up?

Would Gold just continue to say 'We're focused on the season.' 'We've got to control what we can control.' And other such coach-speak. (In no way knocking Al...he would just be distancing himself and the team from all that mess.)

Thoughts?

/flame away...but real conversation welcome.

Very interesting. However, I think that would build more unnecessary pressure on the program, because the questioning of sanctions would be ridiculous each week.

This is not a choice for the University to keep private. This information is divulged to the media and to the public. Your scenario does not exist.

UM does not need to make the sanctions public. The NCAA does that. The document containing the sanctions is known as a "Public Infractions Report."

UM gets a copy before it is made public, but if UM already had a copy, then it would be made public tomorrow.

Ah...got it. For clarification then...being a private university, UM doesn't have to make public it's financials, but NCAA business is made public?

UM does not have to divulge the NCAA sanctions, but the NCAA will. They probably don't have to legally due to state or federal law, but I am guessing that part of the agreement of a university being in the NCAA is that the NCAA will publicly divulge any sanctions. (Admittedly I am guessing here)

It's going out to the media no matter what. So what else do you guys wanna talk about?

What do you think Giselle's favorite position is?

Yes. They don't have to comply with any but their own made-up regulations.

The gig will be up when Miami suddenly doesn't show up to the ACC championship game.

Don't think they can keep such a secret. Besides, wouoldn't it defeat us for recruiting purposes?

Moot point, as everything leaks these days. Can't think of the last time I was shocked at any official announcement from anyone.

and to add to that....can you imagine the **** storm if UM held good news from its Fan base and alumni.....if its bad they will hold out and I understand but if is it is goods I look for UM to share asap....

UM is not allowed to release any information on the infractions report before the NCAA does. UM will get a copy before it is released to the media, and UM will be advised of the text of the press release announcing the decision before the press release is sent out.
