What happened on the Duke run they called back?

I was at the bar so I couldn't hear the announcers. When Duke had that run that he reversed the field, why did they stop the play?

I thought that was the pivotal moment in the game. It was an enormous momentum boost. Instead of tying it up 14-14 (he looked like he would've housed it) we had to punt and they scored making it 7-21.

They said his forward progress was stopped (which it was) but they usually wait to blow the whistle on plays like that.

They called him down bs forward progress... They don't even call QB's down that fast..

They whistled the play dead. It was a horrendous call. They said his forward progress was stopped and called the play dead. What kills me is he was not down, the play was not dead, and neither he nor the FSU defenders stopped playing. Even after the whistle and he reversed field the FSU defenders didn't stop playing. I mean, have the refs have ever heard of Barry Sanders? Duke was gone for an 80 yard TD if the refs don't get trigger happy with that whistle. Even Herby and Musberger said they blew it too quickly, though Musberger defended it a little because the teams almost fought on the play before and he said the refs might have been trying to stop a fight.

That's what I thought happened. It looked like the defender only had one hand on him and he was being blocked too.

******* garbage, I think that play was the turning point.

But it is what it is. I think our guys played a lot better than the score indicates.

Duke being out the rest of the season is a much bigger issue than losing last night.

LULZ at his forward progress being stopped. The guy who supposedly stopped it was being blocked and had only one arm free. One of the worst calls in history.

Morris completed a 30 yard pass on 3rd and 14 on the next play to midfield. The drive did stall and we didn't score, so it did take 7 away.
