Getting his hands on that last pass to break it up cause the receiver had it in his hands. Still can't believe we let UNC drive nearly 80 yards in 16 seconds... Wtf was that prevent defense?!

That had trap game written all over it... We're lucky to leave chapel hill with the W! Go canes!

One thing was for sure, we weren't going to let any UNC player catch the ball in the out of bounds area behind the endzone. Nope, not happening. We had about 7 guys back there making sure it was on lockdown.

I think Cornelius was the only guy defending the play in bounds.

Unc was a great play by Cornelius away from going 80 yards in 16 seconds.

The bottom line is that last play of the game was always going to be a pass into the end zone. Obviously everyone would've preferred the last play to start at the UNC 40 because I don't think renner or Williams could've thrown the ball into end zone from there

If I was going to second guess anything, it might be the decision not to squib the kickoff which would've likely runoff some clock and not given UNC the third play on their last drive. But either way, the last play was going into end zone.

Like another poster wrote, the biggest issue was the fact that most of the UM defenders were actually out of the end zone on the last play

i was screaming at the tv....

we literally had 5 defenders.....out of bounds looking at each other....( that sh*t look like a pop warner team)...like r u serious??...one dude thought to himself maybe i should defend this pass....**** i saw Kelvin Cain in their at the end and i think he thought we lost the game..lol

it was really some clown sh*t coach d pulls with that prevent and rushing 3 guys//// basically no chance of pressure.

Totally agree. We should have done some sort of squib kick at the end. That way, the prevent defense where the defenders were 30 yards down field would've been, if you will, more natural instead of "amateur-ish". After the first long play by Ebron, we went into a more traditional D.

We came this close to UNC making that catch and to me jumping out a window. Motha*&%@@#%#$ !!! Glad that's ovah.

That soft zone we play with a lead almost bit us in the ***. They got 20 yards a pop with little to no resistance.

If we're gonna sit back in coverage at least rush four with your best pass rushers. I think we only rushed 3 the first play of that last drive and Renner had all day to find a receiver down field.

The funny thing is we should be well versed in that soft prevent defense cuz we play it all game pretty much as soon as we play a team with a QB that can throw more than 10 yards smh.

Cornelius saved our butts on that play against a 6-3 or 6-4 receiver. But for his reaching in, that's a TD and a re-do of BC and Flutie. Hopefully the staff revisits how we schemed and played defense on that last series. Might start with only rushing 3.

After all of these years, I still don't the defensive strategy of sitting back on the last play from scrimmage
They have 5 OL and the QB, so,rush an equal number

The whole point of the hail Mary is to buy time, and usually involves an extreme distance throw
if you eliminate the time factor by sending one more than they can block, you possibly may cut down on the possibility of the distance

didnt we lose 3 safeties to injury last night..... tough to play awesome defense down 2-3 safeties
