+1.

Winning out is definitely possible.

Losing to Duke and V-Tech is also very possible too.

Defense is beginning to show improvements but the O is starting to take steps back IMO.

Ringz...my dude...

Do you know how many times, in the past 7 years we have "controlled our own destiny" to win the coastal in late October and even the first week of November?

I'm not going to look it up, but off memory of having this discussion countless times, I'd venture to say, every season.

Teams will always regress back to the mean. You can't continue to trot out defense #117 and expect to maintain that 4-1 record. You can't consistently rely on late game deep balls to win games that won you games against average and below average teams, especially when you get to the good games. You can't lose the time of possession battle in every game and maintain any kind of offensive or defensive efficiency.

Not once Larry

Come October we usually have to rely on so,embody losing.

All we have to do is beat VT and Duke.

Duke

Duke

***KING Duke

This is our bet shot

Bruh...

05...controlled destiny going into the reschedule GaTech game...lost that game in late November and VaTech won the coastal (we had the tie breaker).
06...controlled destiny going into the Oct28 game against Georgia Tech...proceeded to lose 4 straight.
07...we were in control, needed to win out, but ended up going winless in November.
08...7-3 entering mid-November after beating VT, beat GaTech and NC State, and we're in...doesn't happen.
09...we "controlled our own destiny" going into the Clemson game (Oct24), held the tie breaker with GT...lost to Clemson and...doesn't happen.
10...we "controlled our own destiny" going into the Virginia game...lost to Virginia on Oct 30 and it was over.

11 was the year we needed VT to lose...every other year...nope.

One could also make the argument that this team, despite it's youth and flaws, is in a better condition physically than previous years to carpe diem the division...

If we beat VTech, the Coastal is all but wrapped up.

Not if we don't beat duke. And don't say that is a foregone conclusion bc it is not.

Duke is @FSU, home to Clemson and @GT before they play us. If we beat VT and UVA but lose to Duke, and Duke loses to FSU, Clemson and GT but beats us, we still win the coastal with a 5-3 record (Duke would be 4-4).
