We "missed" on 3 top targets

JJ was committed and then flipped.
TC was leaning our way forever and then UGA picked him up.
PS2 was destined from birth to LSU and then Orgeron happened and Bama won NC.

However, compared to previous years missing on 3 top local targets isn't that bad...maybe next year we only miss out on one.
Golden would have missed out on much more than that.
There's room for improvement but I"m certainly not giving Rumph a pass. He needs to show up a big way this year or else Richt needs to make a move.

Jj had grade issues.
Tc I wanted but who said he was such a Miami lock other than this board?
Surtain we never had a shot.
 
A Miami team that beats Pitt and Wisconsin and doesn’t get beaten like a red headed stepchild by the Tigers maybe picks up one of these guys off momentum alone. I think that losing streak at the end of the year hurt us.

I think this as well, Broward kids are front runners, had we beaten Wisconsin and Clemson I think we definitely could have landed one of those heritage corners
 
yes agree.

Richt needs to develop a long term solution to the broward mystery as to why we can't recruit there consistently

Missed on the top 4 CB's. We had a legitimate shot at Samuels after the Jimbo firing. They weren't recruiting him hard enough to get the visit.

Frierson and Blades are legacy and at some point Frierson was going to Georgia. We were close to having a DB class of Ivey, Blades and Bethel bro. Never happened but scary to think about

Naw; if true Surtain Sr is a new employee, Tyson’s family got taken care of, and we all know Jobe’s family got taken care of, no shot. As long as Emmert is in power and there’s no balance from other conferences, the SEC can run wild. Bama, Ole Miss, and UGA should all be on the death penalty watch, but it won’t happen.

It's crazy, because at one point some fans thought we going to lose Frierson to UGA and Hall to Bama BUT Miami kept them both and for some the group still isn't good enough!!

Campbell was in love with UGA, lets face it!! We can say whatever we want about this and that, Miami was only in it because the kid had lots of love for Rumph BUT at the end of the day the kid's heart wasn't for the hometeam.. And PS2 was basically looking for a easy route to the league, so jump board the hottest team in CFB (Pops will be on the staff before long)!! NO LOVE LOST THOU, I wish them the best..

Can’t lose something you never had or had interest in you.

Kind of like losing out on a date with Miss America....how’d you miss out when she was never interested.
 
Whiffing on Campbell/Surtain can't be overstated. That said, we still have the components on the roster to have an elite offense in 2018 if QB play improves and if not then, certainly by 2019. We have studs on defense, we certainly need more quality depth, but the foundation is in place for Miami to be a national contender in the very near future. Hopefully then, we'll be closing with most (nobody closes with all) of the studs we want every year.
 
Gotta roll with the guys who actually wanna be here. We are the U. We produce NFL talent every year and we are on the rise. No reason for local kids to leave anymore. It will be different once we win.
