Nice week of visitors. Didn't see a great place to independently talk about these guys and there hasn't been much talk of quite a few of these guys in relation to us so the post visit articles should be interesting to see what ground we have made up.

Big getting Williams on campus. Need to keep a solid grasp on this recruitment.

Nice job by staff of bringing in a mix of top talent at all position groups. I'm gonna hit the gym so I can't handle this higher level of recruiting. They say you Can't be soft when it comes to recruiting. For real men only.

Man I remember when getting 1 or 2 top 247 kids on campus during a week of spring ball was elite for us lol. We've come along way with Mario and staff!

Jelani Thurman, the No. 3 ranked tight end per 247Sports, was one of them.

“I loved it. It was a great environment out here. It was my first time here. I’m glad I was able to come on a weekday where I was able to see all the kids at school. Everybody has smiles. Of course it's sunny outside and got to see around the whole campus,”.

Multiple Miami staffers were showing the 6-foot-5, 230-pounder attention while he was in Coral Gables alongside his teammate Terrance Love.

“I’m not going to lie, every coach was really showing a lot of love. Everybody on staff, if I walk past them, they’re saying hey. They walked me around and made me feel at home, make me feel welcomed,” Thurman said.

The rising senior has a strong athletic profile with his father, Odell Thurman, being a second-round NFL draft pick out of Georgia and his mother, Kara Braxton, playing in the WNBA.

Miami may have made a move now that the youngest Thurman has gotten eyes on the program.

“Miami just raised my stocks a lot,” Thurman said. “The more I go on visits, the more I will get to know about the schools and get comfortable with the schools. This was a great visit.”

The rising senior recently got looks at Florida State, Florida, and UCF before checking out Miami. The Hurricane stacked up well against the in-state programs.

“They’re on top right now. It’s between them and Florida State - they showing the most love. [Miami] has been recruiting me heavy, heavy, heavy. They make sure they keep in contact during the week, Twitter, iMessage, trying to get on as many FaceTime’s as I can,” Thurman said.

Thurman maintains that multiple programs are still involved. It does sound like Tennessee, Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan State, and Alabama are a few schools he hopes to visit.

“It’s really a race right now. Everybody is neck and neck or more schools coming ahead when I go on visits. It’s a lot of communication going on right now,” Thurman said.

Last fall, Thurman caught 31 passes for 479 yards and seven touchdowns per MaxPreps. He was also credited with 61 tackles, five quarterback hurries and a sack on the defensive side.

It's funny that people think Miami recruits itself. Like kids will just come for some sunny weather. That's not nothing, but what's the one thing every recruit says in these articles? They talk about coaches "showing love". They talk about how often this or that coach texts them. It sounds stalkerish and weird to me, but the kids love it. They love the attention, and that's what you have to do. So next time you're thinking we'll get some kid because Miami, rest assured that if some coach from Boise St. is showing more love, you can say goodbye to that kid.

I like where this staff is at and how they're working right now. They get that the school won't recruit itself, they have to do it, and they are.
