Plus:

+Shane Mother****ing Larkin: At times he seemed to match Green shot for shot. Made timely steals and even got a couple blocks. I <3 him.
+Kenny Kadji: made timely buckets in the second half to help extend our lead.
+Team composure: Team was down 12 on the road, and unlike me; they kept their cool, grabbed their sacks, and pulled themselves out the hole they dug for themselves.

Minus:

-Whoever was supposed to be guarding Green: I know that guy is good and was making everything he thew up but dammit mane it was insane for a while.
-Reggie's offense: He seemed to struggle at times to me.
-Refs: No explanation needed.

Honestly, I didn't think we did a bad job guarding him. We had a few breakdowns where he got open shots -- Larkin slipped on one play, Scott got caught on a few screens -- but overall, we made him work for his shots. He simply hit most of them, including some shots with guys right in his face. He's a really, really good player. The key is that, while he got his points, we didn't let anyone else on VT's roster hurt us.

The bball forum at Scout is pretty dead. Josh does a great job over there with recruiting updates though.

I've seen some poorly officiated games in the ACC this season, but about 30 minutes of tonight's game was **** near unwatchable from a whistle's point of view. They missed so many obvious possession calls that I seriously contemplated if that crew was pulling something shady. At least 4 deflected passes were ruled in VT's favor where the path of the ball clearly changed after a Hokie touched it. And that's not even getting into how they allowed the Hokie forwards to mug us underneath in the first half, before they realized they needed to even up the calls late (this happens so much and it's always maddening... I should be used to it by now.)

I wonder if Coach L or somebody on the staff puts together a tape to send to the head of officials, because tonight was brutally bad for really long stretches.

Yeah, Josh really knows his stuff when it comes to basketball recruiting. I tried to get him to come over here, but he said that one board was more than enough for him. I post on both, but this one is more active.

This thread title gave me a flashback to Yama from canestime.

LOL, I thought the same thing. I think I was the one who first posted some detailed plus/minus numbers a few years back, and then Yama took those as gospel and still keeps on rambling about them.

Karl Hess was one of the refs. I think we've had him for three games this year, and they've all had stretches of terrible officiating. There's a reason why every fanbase in the ACC can't stand him... he's been awful for years, even before he tossed Tom Gugliotta from the stands of an NC State game for no reason whatsoever.

There were no negatives to this game.

We won what was a classic pitfall game.

Right after two huge games, on the road, in conference, against a dynamic player, with another big game ahead of us.

This is exactly the kind of game lots of good teams lose.

As Andy Katz said tonight:

@ESPNAndyKatz: Do you know what conference champs do? They win on the road when it looks like they may not. See Miami at Va Tech.

LOL, I had no clue. I freely admit that I've never been much of a supporter of the basketball team (or even much of a basketball fan for that matter). I got the idea from a hockey message board I frequent (hence +/-). There's a guy that does a thread like this after every game.

Andy Katz is on our **** always. Hes like the anti-DooKKK Vitale.

I have a huge, insatiable, unhealthy mancrush on Shane Larkin. Like, its massive.

Nice! I love the idea of the thread -- it's always good to discuss the good and bad of each game. Basketball also has hockey-like +/- stats, although they're not really as representative of a stat as they are in hockey.

I agree. Unreal how they missed the out of bounds calls. I did love Reggie getting in between Gamble and the refs, keeping Julian from a T.

Feel free to find a niche here. Start it and dont look back. There are very few of us Bball fans so anything you can add would be great.
