Not saying we beat them, but we very well can. I'm sick and tired of people posting "No way we beat VT" in drive by posts. This is not the same VT team as in years past. Heck, we should have beaten them last year up there. They might have been one of the worst 11 win teams ever last year, and this year they are even worse.
VT is 4-4, 2-2 but of those wins, one was in OT against GT (like us), one was against Austin Peay (I-AA like Bethune), one was Bowling Green, and the other Duke. Ironically, Duke is their most impressive win, and they were down 20-0 before coming back. They lost to a horrible Pitt (3-4) team 35-17 that was blown out by Youngstown State. They lost to Cincy, who was #21 before losing to Toledo yesterday. They were absolutely destroyed by UNC, 48-34, and beaten pretty handily by Clemson, 38-17. This might be the worst VT since 1993 or 1992.
Here are their stats:
Rushing Offense 72
Passing Offense 52
Total Offense 66
Scoring Offense 58
Rushing Defense 71
Pass Defense 32
Total Defense 49
Scoring Defense 48
I think we can move the ball on them, and while they'll move the ball on us, if the defense keeps holding opponents to FG attempts and out of the endzone, quite frankly I could care less if they give up 450 yards. Points matter. Now we have to have the offense wake up, and we'll win. It'll be nice to have a week off to get Morris 100% healthy, and also Duke as well. Hopefully he's not too seriously banged up, because we need him to compliment James.
