Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek four-star 2026 running back Amari Latimer initially hoped to visit Miami this spring or summer, but since he wasn't able to visit earlier this year, the No. 201 overall prospect instead locked in a visit for the Hurricanes' Sept. 27 game against Virginia Tech.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound running back, whose parents are from Miami, has remained in steady contact with running backs coach Matt Merritt over the summer and has maintained interest in the Hurricanes, he said. Latimer said he wanted to make the trip because of his continued communication with the Hurricanes' staff and plans to visit with his parents, younger sister and grandfather.
"Miami's home, so I had to make that trip," Latimer said. "This year the coaches have been showing some love, so it was a (must). (My parents), they were both born and raised in Miami. So when I first got the offer, they were really excited." He was also born in Miami.
"My interest in Miami is very high, and I feel like it'll be greater once I get down there and I get to see everything for myself," Latimer said. "It's the way they talk to me and the way I hear from the coaches, (including) Mario Cristobal. And also, I mean, that's where I'm from. It's home, really."
