The brain trust of CiS will soon come up with some really weird excuse or rationalization as to why a crippled USC team does a 180 under a different coach, mid-season and why Miami's situation is indeed worse.

A lot of times, and this is most often seen in the NBA, there's an immediate improvement in the teams performance after a coach is fired. The team knows it's now on them as players, they can't blame it on the coach anymore, and the team will start playing much harder.

It leads to a lot of bad hires of interim coaches who get too much credit for the improved results.
