actually played a series at guard right before the half? Just wondering if they plan on rotating him in for a series or two each game?

- Also, it seemed like Thomas Finnie played a nice game. Seemed to have good coverage and good ball skills, very scrappy, too.

- And maybe its just me, but I thought Brandon McGee was pretty good. Perhaps the best all-around game he's had during his Miami career.

McGee looked notibly larger than last year. He made a couple critical plays in run support where in years past, I dont think he makes those tackles.

Finnie is fun to watch. He has some old school Cane in him.

McGee dropped an easy pick at end of game. Meaningless play but would have been great for his stats.

brandon mcgee i can honestly say had a good game.....he was actually physical in run support a few times...and he definately beefed up ill say 5-10 pds. Wish eh plays that way the rest of the year....he just needs to build confidence...( thats always been his problem...Mcgee was an offensive player his whole life..played very sparingly on d just his sr year....so he has never been completely comfortable on d and it has showed since he's been here)

finnie reminds me of guys like Nate Brooks....just a pesky fiesty corner...thats always in the way....we even sent him on a cb blitz

I thought McGee played with a certain confidence that was lacking last season. Now, first time he gets beat, let's see what happens

I also thought Gunter did a decent job in the secondary. By the end of the season, this unit might be something, IMO

I think this group has a better chance to emerge into a plus by the end of the year than the DL. I thought McGee was his usual meh self in coverage, but he did seem more confident out there, and the tackle he made on that stretch play on 3rd down was huge, and one that the pre-2012 McGee doesn't make. Howard looked good out there for it being his first game. I noted in my post yesterday that I didn't notice much of Gunter, which I have to assume is a good thing. Safety is the obvious weak link, but I really liked what I saw from Bush yesterday. Whether or not he's capable of being a ball-hawking leader back there, I don't know, but he shows some real promise.

Getting anything out of J Lewis is gravy at this point. Sure, its a shame he couldn't put it together until now, but he can/should be good at leaning into a Dline and wearing them out and opening up some room.

Really liked Finnie, he was step for step with the wideout on every deep ball thrown his was. I have hope for the corners, hopefully the safeties can make it work. Seems like a lot of the blown coverage was at the LB level, which I fully expect to get fixed.

Im actually pretty excited about these DBs. I agree McGee looked better than he has ever looked here. I think he can have a solid year, superstar? I dont know, but certainly solid, he was very good in run support. They young cats look very good. LOTS of potential there. This could be a STUD defensive backfield in 2 years.
