Thanks to FMS Bonds and Jimmy Klotz and Paul Feinsilver and their $1 Million Dollar gift a new state of the art HD (high definition) scoreboard will be installed above center court at the Bank United Center. There are other improvements planned for the Bank United Center even though it is a relatively new venue itself; total costs probably around $3 million or more.

I'm proud the University of Miami is taking the lead in providing our student athletes the best facilities and now the other universities have to try and catch us.

Here's a link to the new scoreboard:

Awesome! It's a much needed improvement to the BUC.

Now all they need to do is start selling beer at the basketball games.

Wasted money on the friggen basketball program that will never win ish. This should be in the bball forum, not here. Waste of money for those guys.

The basketball program has more hope than the football team at this point.

Which was the goal of the admin and the carpet munching president since day 1. Change the U into a really poor imitation of Duke.

Jim Larranaga is building Miami into a national basketball power and this year's team will surprise many; it well could be a top 20 or top 10 team. The games are exciting, the Bank United Center is a nice modern arena with great sightlines to watch the games. Last year many of the games were or were close to sold out, it's a new generation at UM.

Didn't UM just make $40 mil or so from that Wal-Mart land deal?

Surely they could throw some of that to the football program.

Yes a new generation in which the old school fans want nothing apart of. I could give two ***** about the bball program and how it's "fun". It's a program that will never be anything special save a fluke season here and there, and it's treated better than our five time champion football team. Makes me ****** sick to see "the new generation". The U is turning into the very thing that it used to hate: a ***** need basketball school that scoffs at bad attitudes and bad behavior, while applauding APR rates. It's a sick joke what they have turned us into.

How corny can you be on a scale of 1 to "Golden Showers"

I am not a bb fan but did get excited when we won the ACC(still waiting for the football team). I also use to get excited when our baseball team won the College World Series just about ever year we won the football NC. However, neither can compare to football. Both are basically for schools that can't compete in football. That is why so many of us object. Especially when it seems the administration favors bb over football. Miami could go to Final Four every year and it would never replace what football has done. Football made us THE U!!!! That branding is worldwide and priceless. Basketball and baseball can never do that for us.

I would love to have College World Series win with Final Four championship to go with another NC trophy. But only the football trophy can stand alone. Only then can we all stand on any street corner and scream "WE ARE FRIGGGING BACK AND IT IS ALL ABOUT THE U!!!!!"

So people are complaining about a donation? Some folks would complain if you hanged them with a brand new rope. ;)

$1 mil actually seems pretty cheap for a "modern" scoreboard. I'm just happy when any money is spent toward football, baseball or basketball though. Now if we could just repeal Title IX. And get rid of the "Band of the Hour". And the male cheerleaders. In fact, let's just go with The Sunsations only.

Wow. It really is people just like you the University of Miami and its fans (you clearly are not one) would like to get rid of. ***** ***** *****. Nothing better to do. You probably don't even donate a dollar to the school and show up at big games only when you can buy a ticket from a scalper for $5.

Now this is where you respond with, "I've been a season ticket holder since before you were born and I gave my life savings to Miami"
Then we all laugh at you because its obvious you are lying and its funny but you walk away thinking you are the man and you showed all the internet.

Is shalala going to upgrade the facilities with that multimillion dollar deal she cut with Walmart?
