Under Armour All American game thread

Getting on Scaife early is a tremendous job by the staff. I’m not even sure they expected him to progress like he has.

I've porsted about him before but watching this game just made me upset about not recruiting Hicks. Looks like a Cane LB to me. :monkey-serious:

Looks like Nebraska is leading for that Washington kid. Would be a home run in that Scott Frost offense.

Watching that game was awesome as I think all our commits balled.

Get william barnes so we dont have to move scaife to tackle lets have the best interior line in the country in a few years.
Donaldson, gaynor, scaife, reed, neal, lucas we are getting monsters on the interior just need a true left tackle.

Here is my grade for our commits:

Cleveland Reed - Looked very good didn't pancake as much as scaife but looked very solid and I didn't see him get beat

Delone Scaife - Looked like a 5 star and couldn't get beat. Pancaked 5 star d ends all night. Not much more to be said.

Brevin Jordan - Oh my that cat is good!!! He will be a 5 star IMO and he can block well and is an elite reciever. I wish they used him more.

Al Blades - Nothing spectacular but he was shutting guys down. Not many passes thrown his way but you could tell he can cover very well. Great onsides kick play and I can't wait for another blades in orange and green.

Gurvan Hall - The black team ran the ball more so we barely saw him but it is clear he is fast and athletic and has a nose for the ball. I cant wait to see him lay people out.

None of our commits played badly and they all looked very promising!!! GO CANES!!!

Whaaaat?????? Scaife playing Tackle would give us the best line in the country in 2020! You want Donaldson at Tackle? The guy doesn’t have half the mobility Scaife does...

Na! I found someone who can move in Scaife. He can stay at RG and re-invent his 330 LBS of bigness there. Just let him maul...he doesn’t have half the mobility Scaife has and Scaife has way better feet.

PBP said he looked really good but got beat for a sack by Cox once? (Didn't get to watch game)

Brevin looks like a baller

No he didn’t. Petit-Frere got dusted by Anoma and forced Jack West left where he ran into Brenton Cox. That’s some revisionist history...

nooooo you totally misinterpreted my post lol.

I meant I want Donaldson, gaynor, scaife, reed, neal, and lucas at guard and have herbert, hillery, johnson, campbell, and barnes at tackle. That would be my dream o line depth in a few years

Scaife definitely looked like a 5 star lineman tonight. Dude had more pancakes than an Ihop.

Why is a top caliber Miami LB going to Louisville?

Because we didn’t recruit him

To be fair, a lot of the top schools didn't recruit him. He ran a 5.1 40 at a camp in 2016 and didn't run the 40 at the Miami Opening in 2017. Uhdl shows him as a 4.83 guy at 230+ pounds but he could be closer to 4.9+. Based on what i read, he struggled at camp settings in space. That's not to say a 4.9 LB can't play well in college.....Scooby Wright was 4.9, Kentrell Brother for Mizzou was 4.89, Paul Dawson was 4.95 for TCU and Preston Brown lead Louisville in tackles (94) and TFL (13) at 4.86. That said, guys with slow 40's being very successful are usually exceptions to the rule, especially as the game has spread out and been more about space and speed. He's definitely a thumper inside against the run on tape.

He was committed to Auburn spring of 2016 but they stopped talking to him, so he decommitted in September 2016. He named Louisville his favorite before ever visiting but said he wanted offers from Bama, Clemson and FSU. The top schools never recruited him so he signed Louisville. He did make a few unofficial visits to Miami.

Other top schools aren't 20 minutes away from the HS he plays at.

I get that - just playing devil's advocate.

Fans scream when top 10 teams recruit players we don't - how can they be good enough for Auburn, OU, etc but not us.
But then fans scream when we don't recruit kids that none of the top teams recruiteither, which is why they end up at Louisvile.

I'm not saying the kid is UM material or not. I'm just putting context behind the "why" he may not have been recruited.

Have a feeling that if he was committed to UM some of the same people questioning why we didn't recruit him would be criticizing UM for recruiting a LB that ran a 5.1 40.
