I've always begrudgingly accepted the whimsical and often subjective enforcement actions of the NCAA. But the latest (in)action regarding rampant, wide-spread, and undeniable academic fraud at UNC really scares me the sh*t out of me. A writer (I'll try to find the article) drew the perfect juxtaposition today: UNC gets a complete pass for essentially manufacturing grades over a period of years in order to keep athletes eligible, yet UCONN cannot participate in the NCAA tournament because its team as a collective unit fell below minimum academic standards. The point being, if UCONN just invented no-show courses for its players, then the team would be eligible for post season play. The NCAA has now jumped the shark, and I loathe to think what that means for Miami in the coming months.
