You ain't nevah lied, 85!
Crossposting this from the game thread:
It's clear that when this team is on all cylinders, it's one of the 10 best teams in the country. Not a doubt in my mind. And it's really due to how Larranaga has assembled the defense. Gamble and Big Reg are exceptional post defenders, each in different ways; Kadji is a very good team defender with the weak side shot blocks; and there is not a better defensive guard duo in the country than Larkin and Scott. They make it miserable for other teams to run their offense. Throw in a couple of multi-talented wing players in Brown and TMJ and we're primed for a deep NCAA run.
You still worry about the offensive production, but RJ coming back really opens it up for the perimeter shooters because he must be doubled by all but the most elite big men. Kadji is nearly impossible to cover at this level, 4s simply don't have the mobility to step out and also deny his drive to the basket. You saw what he did to a bunch of talented but inexperienced forwards tonight, it's like they were standing in cement shoes.
Enjoy every minute of this ride because we won't see it again for a while.
