### UM has decided to cut ties with linebacker Devante Bond, whom it once thought would be a key piece of this year’s defense. Bond had 24 sacks at a Northern California junior college the past two seasons but failed to qualify academically and enrolled at a prep school. UM is no longer pursuing him; Nebraska and California are among his suitors. Meanwhile, UM has no idea if elite receiver/basketball player Derrick Griffin will ever play here. Griffin is at a prep school after failing to qualify academically and has said he hopes to enroll at Miami in December.

Too bad. The D might not need him, but would be nice to have another scary guy back there. I hope Griffin makes it in. Need to add that height and speed combo to the O.

I said I would be shocked if he ever played here, now I am saying I would be shocked if he ever plays D1 football. These things rarely work out that way.

can someone change the title of this thread please?

All bond had to do was go to class and get his grades respectable enough to pass/gain credit. He did not do that. How hard can it be and how many chances does this guy get before people realize it's his fault? i work two jobs, one full time and the other 20 hours a week while taking 5 classes and I keep my grades up.

Bond gave up on UM, not the other way around. If he cared enough to be here then he would have matured and gotten his **** in order

He might have busted his *** and just not been able to get the necessary grades. Good luck to the dude. Hope he turns into an animal for some west coast team.

Why change it? That's what the article says. We are no longer pursuing him, even if he gets grades. What do want the title to be?
