2018 dual-threat QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson (6'2", 195 pounds) says he's been offered by Miami. Thompson-Robinson is a four-star recruit with offers from Michigan, UCLA, LSU, and Florida. High school teammate of premier 2018 TE recruit Brevin Jordan, who already has a Miami offer.

He's been a backup to 2017 Ohio State QB commit Tate Martell at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, NV the last two years.

This offer comes a day after Miami offered another talented dual-threat QB in Jarren Williams from Lawrenceville, GA. Here's the thread for Williams: https://www.canesinsight.com/thread/2018-dual-threat-qb-jarren-williams-miami-offered/106230

Long gone are the days of the pocket passer at Miami...

?

You can tell by our 2018 targets and 2017 commits at Quarterback, coupled with Ricth implementing a RPO offense that the typical pocket passer is no longer a priority here.

It's just an odd statement to make when we currently have a pocket passer QB. I agree though, our recruiting looks to be focused on mobile guys

What's odd about what he said???? The RECRUITS we have from 2017 and 2018 at the quarterback position are by majority mobile quarterbacks. So since we seem to be recruiting almost soley mobile quarterbacks anyone with an IQ over 10...........

can safely draw a conclusion that moving forward as an team pocket quarterbacks are no longer a priority based on how recruiting is going right now.

SO WHAT'S "STRANGE"ABOUT THAT?

Because he said "Long gone are the days of the pocket passer at Miami..." and we currently have a pocket passer as our QB, and we might have him back next year. He never specified recruits, you're the only one who has. So they are not long gone...perhaps they will be gone in the future, but they are not currently gone, and they are certainly not long gone. It's semantics, I agree with his general point.

Right, and it's far from certain that Perry is going to swoop in and take the starting job. I care about winning and if a dual threat guy can make that happen, great. But I don't see that pocket passers are obsolete just yet. Seems like there's always some offensive fad that makes people decide that the old way is dead. Turns out running the ball is still important, and accuracy and good decision making are still the most important traits in a QB. If you can find those coupled with running ability great, but a good pocket QB is still a deadly thing.

Also, there's a big difference between "priority" and "long gone".

Certainly looks like richt wants a dual threat at quarterback.
