CORAL GABLES — The tropical storm brewing south of Miami is already affecting football in Coral Gables.

The Miami Hurricanes had to move their Saturday practice to the Miami Dolphins' indoor facility in Davie. And they won't be practicing at their on-campus fields any time soon as Tropical Storm Isaac approaches.

The university announced it was closing the campus at 7 p.m. Saturday and will not reopen until Tuesday.

On Friday, there wasn't much concern about the weather from UM linebacker Denzel Perryman.

"No, I don't pay attention," the Coral Gables native said. "I don't even watch the news at all."

The Hurricanes, scheduled to practice Sunday, open the season Saturday at Boston College.

Cause golden just gets it.

Seriously though, golden was smart enough to cultivate a relationship with the dolphins hence the canes ability to use their facilities.

"Awesome experience at the Dolphins bubble today!" Miami receiver Shawn O'Dare posted on Twitter on Saturday afternoon.

The Miami volleyball program will expedite the schedule at the Canes Invitational tournament it's hosting on campus this afternoon. The Hurricanes are expected to face Samford before 6 p.m. or 30 minutes after Ole Miss and Wofford complete their match.

shades of 1992, when they went to Dodgertown before Hurricane Andrew

( God, I love making references to the past)

We need our own bubble

Project:

Miami Dolphins Indoor Training Facility
Responsibilities:

Develop all engineering and technical solutions.
Description:

The Dolphin Indoor Practice Air Structure is a state-of-the-art indoor practice facility and the first of its kind in Florida! It enhances the Miami Dolphin’s Training Facility, which was already considered one of the premier practice facilities in the National Football League.

The 96,800-square-foot air-supported field is the first significant expansion to the Dolphin’s Training Facility since it opened in 1993. Nicknamed “The Bubble,” it covers 2.2 acres on the west side of the Miami Dolphins Training Facility on the campus of Nova Southeastern University in Davie.

An engineering marvel, the high-wind hurricane zone solution was the brainchild of DeRose Design Consultants, responsible for all engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. It spans 220’ x 440’ clear with no intermediate support and a 75’ clear ceiling. The fabric is extremely light, yet strong and can withstand 140 mile per hour winds as required under the Florida Building Code. The innovative HVAC systems maintain inflation and structural rigidity.
Construction:

$80,000,000
Completed:

June 2006
