Tyler Baron DE, J George WR, Xavier WR, and NIL walk into a bar…

That’s interesting. Essentially school X offers 100k, school Y offers 125k and won’t go higher….with a back room handshake between X and Y that if X wants to go higher….to please keep it within an expected range?
I’ve heard things like this. Obviously the cut throat nature of business won’t ever go away but it’s like any free agent market or employer/employee situation it seems.

It’s so new for everyone theres a lot of moving pieces. I’ve been hesitant to really judge too much because it’s a lot of learning curve from the players and the handlers and the people paying the bills

Definitely one reason you’ve seen people publicly ***** about us

I changed my tune pretty quickly watching it play out

In theory it makes sense. Build through recruiting and fill needs through the portal just like any professional organization (draft vs free agency)

But then seeing these high school kids commanding mega money and then jumping ship anyway it’s like well what’s the point?

There’s a mix in there somewhere but to draw a line in the sand with either makes no sense
It has to be 80% high school recruiting. You can't assume you can fill all of your needs from the portal if you don't have a decentsized high school recruitingclass. Yes a few, but you couldn’t get enough to compete at a championship level.

This is the last year of the Covid seniors. There will be far fewer players in the portal with experience. Most are going to be guys that didn't get playing time at their current schools. The talented experienced players will command even more money because there will be fewer of them to go around. It's better to get those elite recruits out of high school, develop them, and then pay them enough to stay.

Do you even bother with accuracy? Proofread yourself?

"Excuse the use of the Portal"? Work on articulating yourself in proper English syntax.

I see that you still haven't provided any of the fictitious posts where people "tried to make the Portal the devil". I'm sure you're still researching that false claim of yours, now that it has been challenged.
You are taking hyperbole to clap back at perceived mopes to defend slurper's Ls instead of enjoying the portal success. Rather than play your semantics games, I am going to be clear with what many are pointing out:

Rosters can be constructed through use of the portal and high school recruiting. Mario has adapted over the last year to increase his portal acquisition substantially. That is a good thing. Miami is getting more impact players out of the portal to put a roster in a position to win.

Contrary to questions/concerns about the sustainability of the portal, it has proven it is not going anywhere.

I am excited about the roster improving and would like it to continue to do so by filling the other gaps with available players in the portal.

Win now mode should be every year at Miami.

Shut up

King Mack

“Former Penn State safety King Mack officially entered the portal last Thursday and arrived on an official visit to Alabama on Saturday. Sources have said the visit has gone well but plenty of teams are working to get in the mix. Miami is hoping to enter the mix.”

Terrence Brooks

“Former Texas cornerback Terrance Brooks has a lengthy list of suitors. Among the schools who have reached out include SMU, Miami, Michigan, USC and plenty of others, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Michigan has been in the market all spring for a cornerback.”

Tyler Baron

Tyler Baron spent this past weekend at USC, coming off a trip to Miami. Ole Misshas remained in the picture, staying in contact with the former Tennessee and Louisville transfer. Sources indicated the trip to Los Angeles went well. The Hurricanes are still very much involved. No timeline has been set for when Baron could make a decision.”

Setting aside your ridiculous first paragraph...I think you really need to look in the mirror.

Who questioned "the sustainability of the Portal"? Who said The Portal was "going anywhere"?

As for this "Mario has adapted over the last year to increase his portal acquisition substantially", that is a load of crap. He has NOT decreased the number of HS recruits substanaially. He has not "adapted over the past year" the way you are trying to claim.

What HAS happened...is the same at nearly every school that recruits top HS classes and pays substantial NIL. Yes, there have been "adjustments". HS recruits have been pused out SOLELY for NIL disparities, when just 5 years ago, those players would have REMAINED on the roster. This is a new phenomenon that is ONLY possible due to the perfect storm of The Portal and the REMOVAL of the Initial Counter rules.

So...yeah...if YOU want to claim that Mario has "adapted over the last year", as if he is some sort of deep-thinking individual who peered into the abyss and didn't like what he had become...that is up to YOU...

But the reality is that a bunch of simultaneous rule changes are causing EVERY top program to make shifts in overall recruiting strategy.

In 2024, bluechip HS recruits are being pushed out of universities after a year or two SOLELY for NIL purposes. That is something that has never happened before in history, prior to the last couple of years, and it requires EVERYONE to take more plug-fillers out of the Portal. It's not unique to Miami or Mario.

The idea that a HC must focus on HS recruiting versus portal recruiting is a false dichotomy. There is very little to actually prevent a HC from taking a full HS class AND a significant portal class. All a HC has to do is get to 85 by the fall camp, which isn't difficult if you are willing/able to process underperforming players. If the $$$ is there, the players will be, too.

Yes. This is ESPECIALLY true now that the Initial Counter rules are dead.

Which is something simple that the F$U fans are clueless about.

YES, we criticized Norvell for overrecruiting Portal and underrecruiting high school...WHEN THERE WERE INITIAL COUNTER LIMITATIONS.

And, YES, Mario has signed more Portal guys recently...BUT IT'S BECAUSE THERE ARE NO MORE IC LIMITATIONS.

Instead, we have some Norvell-lovin' F$U-huggin' so-called-Miami-Hurricanes fans who are only too happy to claim that Mario has "adapted" and "evolved" in new and exciting ways. Same people who tell you Mario is a caveman.

And the key point is that ALL of college football is changing along with the rules that are changing. This is not a unique Miami or Mario issue.

The funny thing is going to be...watching Norvell begin to flounder now that EVERYONE can take 20 or 24 Portal kids. It was all fun-and-games when Norvell's only Portal competiton was Lane Train and Coach Neon. Norvell was the Portal King when he didn't have to fight the Sabans and Swinneys of the world.

It's gonna hit differently now that Prison Mike has REAL competition in the Portal.

The portal was really The Unknown at first. With the unlimited transfers and actual backing financially of the ADMIN things changed.

How is that not obvious.

Agreed.

Plus, the demise of the Initial Counter rules. Now EVERYONE can sign 20 Portal kids. It's easy.

Spelling it out is isn’t enough anymore Original, we need, “Hooked on Phonics”.
