Miami just wrapped up a pivotal weekend on the recruiting trail, marking the third official visit weekend in June for the Hurricanes. Among the visitors was two-sport standout Jasen Lopez, a wide receiver and point guard from Chaminade-Madonna Prep, who spent time with both the football and basketball staffs. He recapped his visit with CanesInSight.

“The visit was good,” Lopez said. “I had a lot of fun spending time with the coaches and getting into the meeting rooms to talk...

I know the X comparisons are inevitable and X was special, but this seems like a bigger and more dynamic version of him.

Blostein already knows lol

Nothing like X except the pigment.

X was a running back cosplaying as a slot receiver. Thick in the lower half (pausing on pause), relying on strength with some quicks.

Lopez looks like a basketball player. Wiry, quick, faster for sure.

Let's all just hope Lopez comes here and has half the career X did. But they're far different style players, even though they'll likely play the same position. Different ways to skin a cat.

I understand, and they’re both broward county Latin kids that have been outplaying inner city studs at the highest level of Highschool ball their entire lives. You need a different kind of makeup to succeed like they have while earning their peers respect. And I love having kids that elevated the level of grind in a locker room

This kid is finishing his junior year of Highschool, X was a 5 year college senior…

This kid is also several inches taller
Hey man thanks for letting me know X is older than Lopez

You said he’s bigger than X. He’s not and he wasn’t. They’re built totally differently. We actually should stop comparing the two

I’m wary of Lopez but 100/100 times I want this kid in the class. He’s got that “it” factor

Just weirds me out when people talk about adding like 20-30 pounds of lean muscle tissue to a frame that’s 5-10 or 5-11

It’s not very easy

X was taking an absolute beating at 200-210 so when a kid weighs 165ish there’s a legit concern about how that holds up

But we’ve let way too many electric players go elsewhere because they were too small. Seems like he’s a lock to be a Cane at this point and as long as we got guys like Vance in the fold…it’s looking pretty **** good

Agree with this 100%.

I think the X comparisons go deeper than both guys being Hispanic.

Lopez is thickly-built. Maybe he won’t play at 200+ like X, but he will be 195 pretty easily. I’ve been around all three in person. Lopez more similar to X than Spafford.

They are pretty similar on film, too. Both guys play strong, have a great feel for space, and separate with short-area quicks. Lopez is faster and has more catch radius. X is probably a little stronger.

Lopez, Hough Evans kid and Spafford would be fairly underwhelming imo.

Especially considering that we haven’t had the best luck keeping Cali/West Coast kids after a year or two…..if we take Lopez AND Spafford, we need to take 4 WRs.

Hoping that we get the kid from Red Oaks TX - B. Robinson I think is his name, he just finished a visit with Notre Dame, but it’s essentially Canes vs Domers battle from what I’ve read.

@DMoney any insight for #of pass catchers for the 2026 class and any info you can share on Brayden Robinson?

We’re not taking that kid.
