If there's one area where you would have to defer to their judgement it would have to be South Florida recruiting. With the additions of Coley and Cristobal, this staff has as much collective wisdom on how to recruit the area as you could ever have. None of us knows what went down but these are individuals who made their names recruiting the area. While they might have other deficiencies, Dade County recruiting is not one of them.

So the `coaches can never be wrong? Especially with kehoe getting 3 projects but not having room for kirkland? It is possible

Coaches can be wrong all the time but this is one area where I have complete confidence in the staff. This is how these guys built their reputations. This isn't a staff known for x's and o's. It's a south Florida recruiting staff.

It's similar to what people say about Jim Harbaugh and QBs, "he just knows more that you do." These coaches know how to recruit the area. They just know more.

Can you blame our coaches after watching 20 seconds of this video and Kirkland's **** eating grin? Made me feel a lot better about the decision. Picturing this kid telling Barrow we are "in his top 3" 5 days before signing day makes me sick.

especially with the additions of Coley and Cristobal I have a hard time believing they just fumbled this away. no way. something went down. I think the kid was getting money offered from Ole Miss who seems to all the sudden be in the picture with every top ten stud in the country including juco. the staff wanted to find out if they were getting played and they got their answer when he wouldn't go silent. it doesn't affect your big moment at all. the kid was using us a bargaining chip and we pulled it

3 projects? After watching Gall and Kirkland, if I could only take 1, its Gall and its not that close.

It's been speculated a few other places and the thought popped in my mind also, I wonder if Thomas gave word that he was gone and this was sort of a "Hey Ice, we're not putting up with this type of ****ery" move.

I have to say, while ****ing off Ice might be the absolute worst thing that could've happened in South Florida, a very short-sighted and selfish piece of me is thrilled that the South Florida Diva Squad finally got shown up a little bit. The attitude shown by kids down there is the worst and they really do play UM like *******. I still hate that it happened, but maybe long-term this will make a smidgeon of difference with that?

Coley, Barrow and Cristobal are probably the 3 most tied in coaches in the entire country to the Miami recruiting scene. Golden is kinda new to it but is a master recruiter and politician. These guys know what they are doing.

This was a preemptive strike to avoid holding the bag on Feb 6. I love the move.

Exactly - and after seeing Kirkland play, he is as much a project as the others. If he was not at BTW, this discussion would be very different (see Kerr).

I personally love the move. Eventhough I wanted DK, I kept thinking to myself how long can Golden and staff play games with the S. FL boys. You cannot waiot till the last minute on everybody or else you get stung.
At the end of the day this all falls back on Kirkland and Harris! If you have a commitable offer and and want to attend your dream school. then either **** or get off the pot!

We want players with charactern and vision.

I like the move by the coaching staff - if you're a stud, you got options. If you're an above-average player, s!@# or get off the pot. It's a privilege to be a 'Cane, so stop acting like a reality show ****-diver. All this fool had to do was commit - if he care about this coaching staff and the direction of this team, he would have done so weeks ago. Ya'll want Texas-type commits (i.e. folks that make their commitment and stick)... this is the way to do it.

I'm a huge fan of Golden's and even though their reasoning for how they dealt with Kirkland may be sound it looks like it blew up in their face.

Whether it was an academic issue or a commitment issue, you have to anticipate how it is going to look especially when you aren't allowed to comment because of NCAA rules.

At this point it probably would have been better to not count on him but let him do his little charade until signing day.

Even though they are idiots, you now have Sileo and Luke ranting and the majority of people listening to the radio or reading twitter have no idea what happened and will just believe that the coaching staff screwed up.

Two excrement bags who hate UM and are only looking to get themselves over. F them!

Maybe Coley added some insight about Denvers trolling UM. Just a thought

That's a great point. Coley would know what Denver was telling FSU.

I made this point once we hired him and all of a sudden we opened up more scholarships. Granted it came at the same time as the NCAA ***** up. Al knows we will still get some punishment (most likely scholarships lost) so I can see him just saying **** it lets go get more kids and deal with that later he is to smart for that. Coley told him these kids where playing games.
