So sad that Miami has absolutely zero shot with so many of those kids.
But it is what it is. The elite of the elite, for the most part, are going to play the bag game. Yes, the Chaney's and Duke Johnson's will come around occasionally, and they should be applauded for it. But most of the huge fish are jumping to a much richer pond, and I can't blame them one bit. You're 100% correct, even if Miami won back to back national championships, you're not going to get all the elite SFL kids. Too many of them need more money than Miami can offer.
HOWEVER, what's especially disconcerting, is the fact that Miami is so far behind with many of the fringe SFL kids. And by "fringe", I don't mean kids who aren't any good. I mean the slightly lower ranked kids. I know we're not getting James Williams and Jacorey Brooks. Anyone with a brain has known that for well over a year. I mean the lower to mid 4-star kids, kids who aren't getting every single bag in the country thrown at them...those are the kids we're going to whiff on this class and it's more inexcusable than whiffing on Williams and Jason Marshall, etc.
And it's the reason we need to win NOW. There can't be a small step this year. We can't go 8-4 and miss Charlotte and say, "well, it's a step in the right direction". No. We are WAY behind on MANY of the top ranked kids in the state because we've won 13 out of our last 29 football games. You can't suck balls AND have no bags. You're going to wind up with classes ranked in the 20s year after year, and you're never winning anything with classes like that.
MUST. WIN. NOW.
Like, 10-2 or 11-1 is the only thing that's going to save 2021 from being a complete disaster of a class.
