Attended an alumni/hurricane club event at Dania Jai Alai. Joe Zagacki was the emcee, Blake James, Katie Meier and CRM were the guests. It was a fairly large room that was full, so obviously a lot more excitement around the program.

Blake said that an IPF was a major focus, as 22 practices were canceled last year. Also, the HC had doubled in size in the last four years, and season ticket sales were brisk; only 2000 remain in the lower bowl.

Meier was very excited for the future of team, saying that only one player was graduating. She is signed through 2021, and had donated $75K to the U.

CMR was every bit as good as advertised. Nothing new or earth shattering. They have put around 80% of the offense in, Kaaya is all world, need more speed all over the field, really happy with the effort thus far. He is extremely disciplined, and has put in detailed processes all across the board. The asst coaches are recruiting Monday thru Thursday, and return on Friday to meet. They grade the prospects they see as 1) Cant Miss 2) Good prospect, probable take 3) borderline 4) no way 5) more discussion/info needed.

Was there any mention of how much the IPF will cost and if so how far do we have to go?

lol, the coach had doubled in size the last 4 yrs. I knew Golden was getting fat but doubled, ****!!! He must've been eating those fat paychecks.

No, but he made it clear that it was the number one priority and they were actively working on it, and CMR nodded his head vigorously.

What was Barry Jackson referencing about some clown woman ending the event by (for chrissakes) chastising Richt over the effing definition of swag? This fanbase really needs a god**** purge sometimes.

with the limited time coaches have with players, 22 practices is a staggering, high number. without excusing the criminal incompetency of golden, i can see how the cancellation of so many practices can lead to mistakes. i am shocked. the IPF needs to happen asap.

Mark Richt’s first Hurricanes Club speaking appearance as UM's football coach ended in peculiar fashion on Monday night when a woman took issue with Richt’s interpretation of the words swagger or swag.

UM took questions from several fans in attendance at The Casino of Dania Beach, and Richt – when asked about swagger/swag earlier in the evening – told the audience: "Here's the deal with swag. I'll say this: If you want to dance, go to the club. I'm about moving somebody's butt on the other side of the ball. That's what swag is. Swag is not how you dress or how you dance or how you try to talk to somebody [on the other team], all that. That's a bunch of bull to me. Swag is doing your job, doing it well and whipping the guy across the ball.”

In the late stages of the event, the unidentified woman took the microphone intended for fans' questions and instead counseled Richt, gently admonishing him, about the history of swagger at UM, making clear she didn’t agree with his comment about dancing.

Richt, a cool customer, handled the situation well and the woman was not openly disrespectful.

[Quick aside: I agree with Richt on this. Show me how good you are; don't tell me. And the way the NCAA is trying to reel in showboating, there's little room for elaborate celebrations.]

I, too, am curious to see what a non-reporter thought of that exchange.

It didn't seem particularly notable but it's led the local mouth breathers' coverage of the event.

I hope that woman has no ability to procreate.

Dumb bytch must be Canes fam. "Coach Rich, you ain't know bout that 305 swag because you ain't been in town since Harold Shellberger. This 305 swag all bout dancing and intimidating and trash talking. That's what being a Cane is all about."

Unfortunately, there is a direct inverse relationship between fertility and IQ.

Coley gets flagged for exuberance after a first down catch and this ***** wants dancing and showboating.

I'm fairly certain a former Cane, former coach of FSU and guy who sent his entire team on the field to celebrate a touchdown against a rival, knows **** well what swag is all about. This team hasn't collectively earned swagger in 10+ years. Let's get to the point of kicking ***, then we can tell them the *** kicking is coming and laugh at them after.

Where does someone get the sense of entitlement that makes them think that they can LECTURE an experienced and successful coach with a billion times the knowledge of football, coaching and yes, even "swag"

Fortunately, the majority of canes fans that actually attend games are decent enough, this broad with the fûckhole mouth belongs to that small group of fans that we'd be better off blowtorching.

I think her sense of entitlement came from alcohol. Someone should have told her to STFU.

Seriously, the notion that "The U' is all about swag is stupid. No, we became "The U' by dominating as the Miami Hurricanes. Our players could dance because they were the best on the field. Last years team talked a lot of trash and got penalized for it plenty of times. It was just stupid because we were getting beat 58-0 and still talking.

My guess is that they ended the Q&A early because frankly, several of the questions were bizarre. The lady at the end was just icing on the cake. She said she wasnt an alum but was still a fan, and I think most of the audience thought she was crazy to lecture or educate Richt on swagger.
