Potential replacements?

I would think long and hard about Kevin Wilson. Has Indi-freakin-ana competitive. No small feat. Originially from Carolina.

Dykes, Petrino, Pep Hamilton, Blankenship, Rocky Long and Doeren (favorite besides Petrino in terms of open coaches).

I actually like their OC (Bible) a lot. He will land on his feet.

There are a ton of good coaches, just stay away from retreads.

Not sure why NCS has such high expectations. The reality is that they will do no better than O'brien.

Why?

They can easily win 8-9 games a year before the bowl, there are good coaches available and they are in a pretty good recruiting area. Given the ACC's compeition, it is not hard to have success in this conference.

The names above can be hired, it's up to the AD and Admin.

The only difference between the ACC and SEC is coaching and I mean that from a head coach, assistant coach, strength coach and total program perspective. Every year the ACC is right up there with SEC when it comes to NFL talent. There is absolutely no reason the ACC has to be this putrid. Improve the ACC coaching staffs and you'll see the conference turn around in a hurry. O'brien deserved to get canned.

Well some of these teams in the ACC can do a lot better then they are doing, it starts with making the right hire and staying away from terrible retreads.

UNC went out and got a darn good coach in Fedora.

I live in North Carolina , recruting in this state is very average with Carolina wining most in state battles. The only success NCS has ever had was when Amato was coaching and recruited players from south Florida. O'brien is a solid coach, but never warmed up to the alumni and boosters. I don't ever see NCS, but a middle of the pack ACC team. Just my opinion.

A middle pack team, maybe. But if they go out and make the right hire, they can win 8-9 games per year.

The ACC has so many terrible teams, it is not hard to bring in a guy and have success. One of the problems with our conference is the way they hire coaches, Petrino is available and he is begging to get back into coaching. Someone could get him RIGHT NOW.

NCSU has a ton of resources available, IMO. They have no reason to not expect to compete. It ain't Wake Forest.
