Now, not saying I support Coach D, or that he's good or will ever be good, but I'm sick and tired of people claiming they know more than a guy who has coached at high levels for 20+ years. I'm sick and tired of people using phrases, like gap control, that I'm sure 99% of them have no idea what it means, but one or two posters said it, and everyone picked it up and took it for gospel. And before you rip me, I'm as or more sick and tired of the defense getting run over, I just don't think it's all the coaching, but "easy," "fun" and "cool" to rip and blame the coaches and talk about flying a banner over the stadium.

from the Palm Beach Post:

Against Notre Dame, Hurricanes defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio implemented a 3-4 scheme and blitzed more than he has all season.

He did blitz

But he also allowed their QB to get rid of the ball quickly to their WRs that were unguarded for 10 yards

You can't blitz and play 10 yards off the WRs. That's an easy safety net for them

A lot of the blitzes were run blitzes

i think he set a record for CB blitzes. it worked the first time and I guess he kept hoping it would work again. only worked that 1st time.

I think after we fire Donofrio, we have a real good shot at being good on defense again
