Morris – This kid is evolving in front of us. He has an NFL arm, no one can doubt that. He struggles with accuracy at times and we can expect a handful of bad throws per game. But wow does this kid have the goods at crunch time. More and more this kid reminds me of the old gun slinger himself, Brett Favre. That last TD throw had the old #4 in a GB uniform written all over it. Scramble around, avoids a sack, and absolutely slings a rope 60 yards down field. Pick him apart if you want but he is exciting to watch. His consistency will improve. This weekend will be a good benchmark to see what we have with him.

Chickillo – After a great game against GT he struggled against backup tackles. No one can question his effort and heart. He needs to diversify his pass rushing attack. Right now he is a straight bull rusher. Time for the coaches to teach him up on some Reggie White type moves.

EJ – Amazing player. Let us all thank Mark Richt for letting this kid get out of state. I would imagine we have at least one more loss without him on the team. Yes football is a team game, but can you imagine the shape this D would be in without him? I am trying to remember the last time a UM LB blitzed the QB and caused a fumble.

OL – Obviously the game plan was to throw the ball. They did a great job protecting Morris. Only on sack on that many pass attempts is pretty darn good.
VT and KR – Time to let the young guns step up. Going forward there should be no reason these two should be on the field in 3rd and long. The TD they gave up is absolutely inexcusable. You do not need a scheme to prevent that. You need players with intelligence and instincts in those situations. Clearly they do not have it. However I will give VT props for making a great play and causing that fumble.

Scott – Earlier in the year I mentioned that I thought he could become a star. We see that happening. He has as much athletic ability as Reggie Wayne if not more. Now he needs to continue to work on concentration and catching the ball.

Dorsett – Many FSU fans felt they got the better receiver from STA in Rashad Greene. Admittedly I have not paid much attention to FSU this year. But I will take Dorsett all day every day. This kid is the goods. We have not seen this type of play from a sub 6 foot WR since Santana.

Refs – The block in the back on Clements on the Dorsett return was BS. That was a perfect side block. Fortunately it did not matter with Scott catching the long TD pass a few plays later. The non call when the entire NCS D jumped offside’s was inexcusable. Overall they did a good job and I will take this crew over Cherry’s crew any day of the week. We could have easily gotten a unsportsmanlike penalty after the last TD but the refs did a nice job of understanding the moment.

Coaching – Golden did well to prepare these kids after an emotional win. This easily could have been a letdown game. However the team jumped up early. Certainly the game should not have been as close as it was but that was a matter of the team not executing and not capitalizing on turnovers. That was a youth issue not a coaching issue. The one call that I question Golden on was going after the punter on 4th and 1. That should never happen. That should always be set up a return punt. More bad than good will always happen in that situation. I hear a lot of complaints about Fisch not running the ball enough. Valid concerns for sure. I for one hope the NFL does not come calling after the season. He is miles ahead of any OC we have seen since Chud left. Less than a season and half the coaching is night and day of what it was under Shannon. It is real pleasure to watch a well coached and well conditioned team.

CB- You have to like the style of Finnie’s play. Kid is feisty as heck and not afraid to mix it up and get dirty so to speak. He may not be a pure cover corner but I like what we have here. McGee has improved greatly but is still susceptible to the deep ball. That is surprising given that he is one of the fastest kids on the team.

Wieclaw – Hope we do not have a problem here. He has missed his last 4 field goals, two of them chip shots. That is two games in a row he could have lost the game. Hopefully this is similar to a golfer’s slump and he gets this thing turned around. Missing easy field goals will cost us the game against ND. It might also cost him his job.

How about Scott catching the td off the face mask. His concentration has improved significantly since the first half against gt. Just needs to keep moving in the right direction. Gus whole team is making big strides every week.
