I'm hardly an expert or Xs and Os guy but some of this stuff isn't rocket science.
What I noticed...

1) Tracy Howard didn't once press the white WR that killed is on slants and posts.
Howard was up on him but not a single arm bar was used (Don't know why we don't let our physical corners jam - makes no sense at all)
So instead Howard back pedals and the quick WR makes an EASY slant move over and over again.

I think Howard has the goods in man coverage when allowed to use his physicality. This frightens me with Golden/D'Onofrio.
They come from that Penn St mold where you'd rather "tilt the odds in your favor" then give up the occasional deep ball playing aggressive. So they do play the very definition, and cliche, bend don't break style of defense.

2) Ramon Buchanon very often had the FB/TE out of the backfield on the PA waggle type plays (one went for score... one started the game with big gain)
The safety picked up the TE on LOS on the clear out route and Ramon had no idea he had the wheel. Literally no idea. Even after the play I think he was confused. He's never struck me as the brightest kid... but at what point do you just take a time-out (via Remember the Titans and style) and say, "cover #88 and don't leave him. If he stays to block then seal the edge and look for RB or TE delay. But don't ever lose sight of him."

3) Vaughn Telemaque killed us on the deep in routes. BC was doing nothing special. Slot WR clears his CB to sideline on underneath route and the flanker WR (white kid again) runs a deep in route and is wide open because Telemaque has no anticipation skills to jump it and come make big hit or God forbid INT one. Telemaque also slips quite often which tells me his reaction skills are very poor. He's figuring things out a split second too late and in CFB, at safety position, that can't happen.

4) 3rd and 7+ is our nemesis. I swear all night I was hoping we'd get them in more 3rd and shorts (1-3 yards) than 3rd and longs (7+ yards).
We do fairly well against the run. Our DL maintains their Gap and often even gets upfield and our LBs are pretty **** good against the run. it's no coincidence D'Onofrio shut down Georgia Tech, shut down FSU's run game, etc etc. I think against conventional running teams we fair well.
But once they play action or go 4 wide... we're F'ed.

5) Why do we insist on staying in our base 4-3 when they show 4 WR or 3 WR? Isn't that little league stuff? You bring in your nickel or dime package?
You can still run your prevent, safe zone bullsh!t but at least have faster players on the field. Were we that afraid of the draw on 3rd and 10? Really?

6) Explain to me why the DL was scramblign to get set before each play? Are we trying to micromanage every situation? Chick would be weak side, then after play run over to strong side, etc etc. This went on all night and I hated it. No way a DL can get in any kind of groove when they're barely set before the play.

7) We have talent now folks, albeit young, but what I saw wasn't mental errors from freshman. I saw Buchanon and VT make most of them.

Keep in mind this is all from 1st 2 possessions.
