An L is never good but tbh positive ramifications can come from a loss. This team was overly confident and grew mentally lackadaisical it almost looked easy at times to comeback in the second half. We (including I) took pride in being a second half team. Brutal truth is that this philosophy and style of play wasn’t EVER going to take us far in the playoffs. No moral victories found in a L, but better to lose now than get boat raced in the playoffs. Let’s go into a bye. Cam will lock in and learn from this game. The offense will continue to produce. Hopefully this defense gets chewed out by Mario and this is the wake up call that was absolutely needed.

I’ll be shocked to make the playoffs. I can see Cuse beating us too
 
The first time a RB or QB got outside a DE or OLB should have been a wake up call

The overconfidence was more-so on their comfort level in second half. In fairness this offense is like historical in the second half and the defense would do just enough. Magic run out today.
 
I guess I’m gonna have to post this on every thread.

There is nothing to wake up from or to. This is who the team is and has always been. Cam didn’t bring his cape today so we lost. That’s the only difference in today vs any other week since ACC play started.

Lance is stubborn and thinks his way will work eventually. Hate stubborn coaches like him. Its the same **** we had with Golden and No D. Their way worked at their G5 school of choice so it must work here as well.
 
On the WEZ there is a link to the ESPN playoff predictor. It says that if we do not make the ACCCG we have a mid 90% chance of hosting a first round game (likely agains ND). If we win the championship we are in as the 3rd seed. If we lose, we are done. So, there is hope!

The defense looked scared, confused, and resigned from the opening drive. Anything but overly confident.

This has been the one GLARING weakness since VT and its inexcusable why it hasn't been addressed. You can blame an inability to cover man-man on speed and talent, but edge-setting is fundamental coaching. No reason why that's still a problem.

We’ve been down and almost lost the last 6 games. You really think they need a wake-up call?
 
SMU is gonna win the conference in its first year as a member. They’re gonna do it with our former OC and a bunch of our former players.
As Menmon said before the season started “the only people capable of stopping this offense are the ones on the sidelines with a U on their chest”

Y'all coming in here and saying this team doesn’t need a wake up call or they should’ve been had one from their previous games, while yes true, also doesn’t negate the fact that this is a 9-1 team in Mario’s 3rd year, who up until this point haven’t faced any real adversity or came back from an L. All I’m saying is we don’t know how this team and Cam Ward specifically will respond. Optimistically I’m hoping that the bye week gives us a chance to regroup ourselves. That’s it, that’s all.

With the amount of close games weve squeeked by, and coming to GT who embarassed us last year off of a dumb *** coaching decision... Our team shouldve walked in and hung 65 on them.. We never even made it off the bus.

And we will officially be in the ACC for 20 years with no conference titles or playoff appearances. Ouch!

I agree but it is what it is. We’re 9-1 now. No sense in looking back. We can only look forward. Handle our next 2 games and potentially 3 and we would be back on track finishing #3.
 
Time to make trader our Travis Hunter . He’s clearly better than brown at wr too . He’s good enough to go both ways not the entire game but come in on d sometimes . He’s probably one of the best athletes

I’ll be happy with Winning the acc championship. That’s what I hope for . I never seen us winning the playoffs . We’re not built to win back to back top 3 or 4 times . We don’t have depth yet with blue chippers . Do I think we can beat a good team yes but not back to back and back…
