The D sucks, but what's the O's excuse?

Mike James can't get one yard so 180 pound Clements has to be that guy on short yardage?

No holes for Duke? None? Duke dropping wide open passes? Clive running slower than my mother towards the end zone? Morris running sideways and out of bounds? Bunche doing his best revolving door impersonation? WR reverses on 2nd and 1?

No excuses for this offense. They should have scored as many as Kstate did.

It should have been 52-52 with 2 minutes left in the game. Our D sucks *** but our O has to think that they have to out score the other offense series for series every game.

They're scared. Scared to let the boys go out and make plays. Scared they're gonna turn the ball over and put the defense in a bad spot. Scared that they're gonna fail. And that mentality has taken over the whole team. You can't play scared. Obviously, you don't wanna go like Whipple and go full ****** trying to force everything. But you can't hold them back either. That's Big10 football. And that's why they don't win ****. These boys think they're still at PedoState trying to be that team that doesn't beat the, selves, but still ends up doing it in the process. This is Miami ****. This where we let it rip on 3rd and 43 without giving a single ****.

I actually thought Warlord looked good on that run.

It took a CB 40+ yards to finally walk him down.

I think we needed to see more of him.

The abandonment of the running game has been very frustrating.

Disagree.

If we were scared, we wouldn't be letting Morris throw the ball 45 times and coming out in shotgun in goal line situations.

I think we're trying to do too much with the offense instead of establishing an identity.

Throwing a bunch of hitch passes out of the shotgun doesn't all of a suddenly make you aggressive. Neither does having your QB run sideways for a 2 yard loss. Thats still ***** ball, just out of a different look. How much success did they have trying to attack the middle, but only did went things got desperate?

If we were scared, we wouldn't be running a no-huddle and putting so much on Morris's shoulders.

All that does is try to wear the defense down and not give them as much time to adjust. that has nothing to do with play calling and a lot of the times those are already predetermined quick passes hoping to catch them off guard. And we didn't even hurry up yesterday anywhere near as much as we did against BC. That was looking almost like last year where we were barely getting the snap off in time.

I am more dissapointed in the O as well for the performance yesterday. I have accepted the fact our D is awful but I had myself believing our O had the makings of a high powered unit. What I saw for about the tenth year in a row is a unit who is grossly over rated and soft olineman in the trenches. New QB same results.

What really irks me with the O play calling is the amount of plays we call which go sideways. What ever happened to the vertical game with this team. We should be running between the tackles and chewing up clock to help our D out. We should be picking on defensive shortcomings of the other team and make them adjust to our strengths. Why can't we isolate a slow linebacker on a running back or a TE. Fisch needs to step it up and stop ***** footing around with his play calling.

Am I crazy or would a couple of QB draws out of the shotgun with 4 wide gone for about 30 yds? And I think a couple of those would have kept the LB's honest enough to stop jumping our horizontal stuff. They were blowing those up by playing the odds and gambling. Duke's drop was huge. We saw something with Hurns that obviously never came back into play, but little things could have kept the score respectable.

And I agree, give Mike James a fulback and let him go forward.

And for people getting on Fisch about Clements coming in, that's his role, short yardage pickup. He doesnt fumble, we keep the ball a few more minutes and get 3 out of that drive easy.

Yeah I'm not sure why Fisch gets a pass. I know there is more to the story then just stats but here they are:

2011: 63rd scoring offense (26.5 ppg), 70th total offense (377.8 ypg)
2010: 66th scoring offense (26.3 ppg), 31st total offense (422.5 ypg)
2009: 30th scoring offense (30.3 ppg), 45th total offense (399.9 ypg)
2008: 50th scoring offense (27.1 ppg), 89th total offense (326.0 ypg)

Its too early this year but we are 70th in SO, 90th in TO.

IMO he tries to get too cute, let the players make plays. At times last year I thought we were about to turn the corner offensively but have not been a fan of the game plans this year. He needs to trust Morris because he can make plays. His redzone play calling has been atrocious.
