The building narrative…

I really didn’t think that would fly over anyone’s head but this place continues to amaze.
In fairness, it's very difficult to pick up on sarcasm in text-only posts (and without the sarcasm indicator /s). This is particularly true in a place like CIS where mopery and absurd takes are the norm.

Yeah we're going to hear every argument the book from every program jocking to turn the narrative in their favor.

My hope is that the media turns into CIS. I would prefer more vitriol and baseless screaming and yelling with no facts.

Just ask yourself this… is there a team in the top 25 you think we beat the brakes off of? I don’t see it. This D is so bad and in all honesty the O is unimaginative and predictable at times. It’s productive, but not dominant. If it was Cuse would’ve never come back from 21.
I’m pretty **** down on this D and honestly don’t want us to make it. Let’s save ourselves the embarrassment. Because someone will stop our O and curb stomp this D and we get blasted on national TV. No thanks.

We had the top O in the country ....good lord man

I cant do this again. if we sneak in, so be it. wed get exposed by a quality opponent but at least one more game of cam.

if we do sneak back in, you better fire Guidry before the playoff and let Nicholson call the d

I wouldn't put us in.

Teams generally get better as the season goes on and we had our typical down the stretch run of futility.

Two losses in the last three, that's a bad look. You were in the drivers seat for a ACCCG appearance and not only floundered once, but twice.

Ok. But what did it get us when we needed it most? Again, we poured it on. It was good. It was not dominant. Dominant scores when you need it most. Dominant runs it when it needs it to beat good teams. Dominant occasionally runs the other team off. We didn’t do that to any ACC teams.
Let’s not forget, we needed fuggin miracles to beat Cal and VT.

Nah. This isn’t a playoff caliber team. Who cares that the other options lost to worse teams than we did and have an additional loss. I’ve only watched Miami this year and I can tell you with certainty we aren’t a playoff caliber team, we look nothing like 2001 which is the only barometer.
It's amazing how some of our fans are. While people in Tuscaloosa and Oxford are reinventing the rules of logic and reality to justify their team getting in, our "Fans" are over here screaming "We suck, we don't deserve to be in". I'm not going to pretend that walking out of the Dome yesterday I didn't say "This team doesn't look like a playoff team defensively and I wouldn't be shocked if we got left out". That said, I will NEVER fail to advocate for the program if they are on the cusp. Miami has a legit case, especially when you look at the teams around them. Miami lost close to two solid teams, that are significantly better than the teams that beat Alabama. South Carolina got BLOWN OUT multiple times this year, that has to count for something.

If 2001 is the barometer very few current playoff teams meet that standard. The barometer is this year 's teams we are being compared to. The number 1 offense and Heisman finalist gives us a shot depending on SMU.

That said our defense is definitely not playoff caliber.

Well know Tuesday. If we are ahead of the 3 loss SEC teams, we are in with an smu win. If we are behind any of the 3 loss sec teams we are done.

Ok I’m going to get mocked for this but around 5-6 weeks ago I said if you looked at the brackets, getting the 11 or 12 seed appeared almost as favorable as the 3 seed.

If we got the 11-12 seed it probably meant we missed the ACC championship game, so we would get a bye week before the playoffs and what looked like a decent match up.

The 3 best options were
1) win ACC , get 3 seed in bye
2) be undefeated but lose ACC tiebreaker to Clemson , miss champ but get 5 seed and bye week (by missing ACC champ game)
3. Miss ACC championship , get bye week , and get 11 or 12 seed.

The least favorable scenario was playing in ACC game as a 1 loss, getting blown out, then getting 11-12 seed. Not only do you lose the ACC championship in an embarrassing fashion, but now you have to play again the next week without rest.

problem now is this is out of our hands. Depends entirely on smu beating a veteran, well coached Clemson team, preferably in a blowout. Now we need luck, which hasn’t been on our side for a while.
