It was clear by mid-October or so that we were a very bad team, a disaster, horrific.

But we kept adding studs, saw very few decommits (Yeah, I know about Cormani) and then signed a top-10 portal class.

You’d think we would have seen the cracks then. The wound was open for all to see.

Why, all of a sudden, would 5-7 be a big factor?

Give us your theory. I would like to hear it .
Theory about what? Hard to have a theory when we’re so early in the process. Theories are supposed to be based on facts.
We don’t have enough facts yet. We’re the 17th ranked class and may very well be headed upward.

All I’m saying is that it seems the 5-7 theory is full of holes.

My guess is that it's because players being recruited during the season made their decisions well before ESD. Only had a couple positions that weren't locked up on NSD. Kids rarely flip and when they have signed NIL deals it's basically ironclad. The 5-7 has had a huge impact since then because other programs just need to show clips of each game from UM's 2022 season and it makes recruits throw up in their mouths. The price went way up for a lot of recruits after that, and it didn't look like we were willing to pay.

HS Kids don't have 2 weeks and DEC and all of January to take visits and change their mind like they used to. There is a reason we're recruiting nationally and it's because the locals who actually watch this team know it's **** , the coaching is ****, and the admin has been **** for 20 years. We're out there trying to convince people who don't know the brand has been dead for 20 years. Without that 30 for 30 over 99% of these kids wouldn't have clue wouldn't have a clue what we were.

Theories are based on observations... they become law after the fact.

i personally thought pitching these kids with the new facilities etc would be a huge help....but obv it hasnt been at all... got to win of course but longs way to go... we win if we play the right players and if TVD can be good.

Then give us your personal opinion if your so uptight about semantics. You know exactly what I meant. You started the thread therefore you must have some idea of why our garbage season in 2022 didn't seem to affect our 2023 class including portals but has somehow only recently reared its ugly head and started to affect our 2024 class. Personally, I agree with @Wario Cristobum .

I think @War

@Wario Cristobum does have an interesting take. I agree.
I myself need to see how the ‘24 class pans out before I decide that 5-7 had a major negative impact. So far, the jury’s out...

5-7 was another reminder of Miami’s constant state of underachievement. New shiny coach. New fancy building. New catchy slogans. Same old Miami. Easy to negative recruit a dead program who’s national attention stems from success attained decades ago.

Yes. But all that has nothing to do with the 5-7 nightmare.
Yes it does , what do you think they’re negative recruiting about ?

It’s easy , they can literally just point to the record and say Mario came in an did worse with basically the same team …and had to go an get a new offensive staff …that goes back to 5-7 as well

Locksley said it himself recently when talking about recruiting. He basically said (paraphrasing) that facilities don’t mean **** to these kids - money does.

We were very far in the process when the bottom fell out. Rosters on other teams were being filled out at that point.

Relationships were not as well established with the 2024 class; we also renewed our coaching staff.
