The fact that they are not going after muschamp says a lot about their view on him as a head coach. I think recruits should take notice.

Ironically them bumbling the 'coach in waiting' thing with him worked better for them.

how do you know WHO they are going after....

Texas is about the destroy their entire program over this hire if they make a 100 mil dollar mistake....who ever they hire will get longhorn network stock, etc,,

who ever the unlucky ******* is he is there for at least 5 years even if they suck....texas has money but 100 mil mistakes then have to duplicate it again will hurt their cash flow and reputation....also causing other schools that actually win tons of money....look for the NCAA to step in on salaries sooner or later

I agree totally Gamineal. Texas's "brand" has gotten the best of them. With the media crowning Texas as the biggest, baddest, supreme, coaching job/brand in college football...they have only one place to go...down.

Granted, they may still hire Jimbo or Gundy, but at the same time they may strike out too. It will be interesting nonetheless to see who they hire.

Who knows....Urban Meyer may come down with another "health" issue and the only cure is to move to Austin, where the climate there is just what the doctor orders.

I live in Austin and you are dead on as the arrogance down here of "Texas Football" is suffocating.

If you recall, the university of Texas bought a freakin' ton for GOLD! I expect they will be including some of those gold bars into the contract for who ever they go after. Heck they will probably slide the bars under the table for that matter, they will BUY whom ever they want!

Texas is in a really bad spot IMO.
They can't risk being turned down by anyone, and they have to hit a huge home run.
I keep hearing Briles, but that they would never "allow" their coach to come from Baylor.
What say you Texans?

Brisles would be a good hire, not great, but good and would probably work out. They want the splash hire.

If they want the best coach. They better go after Sumlim.

Texas woes offensively have been QB play. Sumlin is the guy that can come in, and find the best option at that position. Also with the money they have. Finding a great DC to team up with him would not be an issue.

Sumlin got an extension this year. I bet they go after Urban Meyer hard. Hate the guy but I think he is the obvious fit for the recruiting pool they have. His style of play fits the Southern athletes better than OSU.

Doubt Sumlin leaves the SEC. That said, the Aggies are gonna get a dose of reality next year without Manziel and Evans. That move within the state would enrage the masses for sure.

Briles stays at Baylor. New stadium next year, plus a chance to a NC in 2014. Texas can't offer him any he doesn't already have outside of a $5,000,000 plus per year contract.

THEM NOT GOING AFTER GOLDEN SAYS WHAT ABOUT HIM
Some but not too much, I mean Muschamp was destined to be their next coach. Golden has absolutely 0 ties to UT and although we know what kind of job he's doing, it hasn't been an instantaneous process. We're not in the glory land yet and we're not really making that much noise, but I do fully support the job that Golden has done. I think Golden is marginally a better coach than Muschamp (I know everyone thinks he's awful for this year but what he did last year was pretty impressive) and I think Golden's name will be swirling every which way in a year or two once we're a perennial top 15 team. I get what you're saying, but Golden is a good coach and it's going to take awhile for him to get a lot of notoriety on a NATIONAL stage given the circumstances he was given.
