Auburn NEEDS some positive momentum for the fan base. They have pitchforks out for Malzahn but he isn't going anywhere this year. If they can distract them with some positive recruiting buzz, that helps, especially with a 5 star. Lewis made the trip while the team was at Bama. Who did he see or talk to? Not team members like others who have taken these "on their own dime" trips. some innuendo on their board that he made a trip to Pat Dye's cabin.. that's where Auburn tries to "seal the deal."

Still almost two weeks to early signing.... A lot can happen

The insiders on here have said its Mannys call. Ball is in his court..T2 wants to be here....lets see what happens in the next 13 days..

I'm going to collect all of the things I've heard on this, from reputable insiders, and NONE of this is my own personal info, I am not claiming that I am an insider on Lewis' recruitment:

---Lewis seems to have some issues with some of our coaches (UM con, not insurmountable), but would like to play with the guys in this recruiting class (UM pro). If he wants to sign on ESD, I'm not sure if Manny would signal "hey, we're going to get some D-side coaching upgrades", but if he signs in February, you would think we'd have more time to state our case (assuming Manny makes D-side changes).

---UM has not made a super-strong "gotta have you" push (UM con, seems inexplicable), but Lewis has not locked in to any other school as his preference (UM pro).

---Lewis has transferred to different high schools previously (UM con, usually), but has good grades and test scores (UM pro). The transcript will need to be evaluated, but it seems like Lewis would not have to take a year's worth of prep courses before he can begin to make academic progress towards his major.

---Someone with solid info has said that Lewis' mind is all over the place and it could be a legit signing day decision (UM pro/con depending on decision).

I realize there are some other insiders who are very pessimistic, and I'm not knocking them or their info.

It's not a "Miami lock" situation or a "he's never coming to Miami" situation. It's probably best characterized as strange and hard to predict, so I hope the UM coaches ramp up the efforts over the next 2 weeks.

The insiders have said the exact opposite lol. LCE has said from the start T2 doesn't want to be here.

To add to the above ^^, Auburn doesn't really know anything either. Here's the most recent from their 247 reporter:

At 247Sports, we preach "team work" and that's how everything came about. We had heard rumblings about Lewis and Auburn for weeks. But the simple fact is, when schools recruit players committed to other programs (Lewis was a long-time Tennessee pledge) they'd rather not tip everyone off. As a reporter you understand that. But like I said, we knew things were happening behind the scenes.

After Lewis de-committed from the Vols on Monday, 247Sports' Andrew Ivins and Steve Wiltfong did some great reporting. Ivins learned Miami, which many thought might land Lewis, likely would not be his landing spot. Texas A&M and LSU, two other schools that were talked about, now had to be checked on. Enter Wiltfong, one of the most well-sourced reporters anywhere. He gathered info that essentially ruled those two programs out. Based on what I knew and what Wiltfong and Ivins knew, most of the tealeaves pointed to Auburn so I went ahead and made my pick.

Two days after I put my prediction in, Ivins confirmed Lewis was, in fact, in Auburn over the weekend. We'd heard about that. Ivins got it locked down. That, as you can imagine, made me feel even better about the choice. As Ivins noted, "While he wasn't able to meet face-to-face with any of the coaches or players due to the NCAA's temporary recruiting dead period, he was able to get a feel for campus."

Wednesday, Ivins and Wiltfong made their picks for Auburn.

Just going to add here that the cbs were put in with a confidence level of "3"

Sounds like an educated guess by these guys. Usually “insiders” only pick Miami with concrete info which no one has on this recruitment(other than LCE who is staying very quiet recently). He was just in Auburn this past weekend and decommited so they all ran with that narrative. This one is going to come down to signing day.

Both @Liberty City El and @Dwinstitles both know my guy real well...Waiting on what he has to say....My other source said, T2 Loves his boys...but not crazy about staff...
You’d think every recruit in the nation would be ecstatic to get coached up by Patke 🙄... can you imagine Patke trying to enforce anything with a strong personality strong player like Lewis?! Lol
