Well it looks like y'all can stop blaming rumph for heritage now. Slaton said he hasn't been hearing from Miami as much as other schools.

Slaton, however, has not heard as much from the Miami coaching staff as he has from other schools.

“It is a day to day thing with Miami,” Slaton said. “I hear from their coaches some times.”

Miami cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph was Slaton’s coach at American Heritage Plantation. Slaton says the Hurricanes have a great coach on their staff in Rumph.

“Coach Rumph is a good coach,” Slaton said. “I know him as a head coach and I know he is great. I wish him the best with his college coaching career. He tells me that they are evaluating me and looking at me hard.”

Reason and facts do not matter to those with hate for person or peoples. This staff is hard on the guys they want from AHS and it's not necessarily the guys we think. So the idea that Rumph should be guaranteeing certain recruits is just silly. Most here can't guarantee their daughter won't date a bad boy, son won't drink and drive, but Rumph should guarantee any player from AHS. WTF!

But I'm not familiar with his coaching ability. That means he isn't qualified. I need to see more fancy names on his resume to confirm that he is a good coach. As of right now, I haven't seen them.

I Agree... Shaq had three coaches that are Gator Alumni...they have had a big influence on his life but not to the point were they could tell him where to go to schooll...they are happy for him whereever he goes...

you think a top-rated recruit would throw shade on his ex-coach publicly? There is zero reason to assume anything from that comment, good or bad

When jim Harbaugh hires high school coaches. Guess what happens years after year?

Harbaugh a veteran and established coach. Been at Michigan 2 years. Not sure what HS coach Harbaugh hire that has brought a bunch of studs from his HS to Michigan. Names please!

Rumph been here 3 months as a first time recruiter and has yet to coach. In fact several of our coaches have to prove themselves worthy recruiters and coaches (fact my friend). Don't see you riding Kool for not bringing in the DT's he was recuiting at Missou for over a year as a veteran and accomplished coach? Now lets look at just DB's, at least I know "all coaches recruit different positions", we have no idea who closed the deal, but just for sake lets try reasoning. Now in case this slipped your knowledge as well, recruiting for 2017 goes all the way into Feb of next year. So more recruits to come -is my guess.

3 MONTHS IN!!!

2016: Finley, Young

2017: Gibson, Henderson (just listing the SoFl recruits)

2018: Frierson, Jobe

I'd say DB recruiting shaping up "excellently" even if all the coaches recruiting all the players. We will have potentially the 2 best DB classes in recent memory.

But I thought the elite message board want to be recruiting coordinators on this board said he can't recruit and all his former players hate him..... Lol at anyone saying he can't coach he has coached over 5 5stars since he has been there in Sony Michel, Tavares McFadden, Brian burns, tedarrell slaton, Torrance Gibson, Patrick surtain and a host of really good players....

Devin Bush SR. was hired at Michigan as a defensive analyst. A few of his players, including his son, just signed with them. What ties did he have to Harbaugh before they were recruiting his players? Harbaugh has been holding satellite camps as well as a few of his spring practices in FL. This hire was a pure recruiting move. You don't get a hs coach on your staff, unless he can bring in players or if he's one of those few coaches that are actually being brought in to teach their offensive/defensive system.

Paramus Catholic's old coach is now their LBs coach, and guess who ends up signing with them...The #1DT in the country from...Paramus Catholic.

Antonio Richards is a former coach from Pratville hs in Alabama. He was hired as an offensive analyst. Guess who signed with Michigan...Both their RB and LB.

Even our former OC. He was the OC at Norland and Nick Saban hired him just so they could secure Dwayne Bowe.

There's a bunch of other examples, but I'm not going to list them all. The point is, that it does happen. They're not going to give these guys a 6 figure salary, unless they can bring in some players. I'm not doubting Rumph's ability to coach and I'll wait till signing day to pass judgement on his ability to recruit, but I find it very funny that we appear to be the only school that never really benefits from hiring local coaches (other than Baez and the Gulliver kids).

He coached 4 years at AHS. 3 for football and 1 for track. He has 3 state championships!!!

I hear you, but maybe he is just a good coach in the HS ranks. It's rare but it happens. Pruitt and Malzahn both come to mind. It's painfully obvious he isn't here for recruiting so......

Auburn hired a HS coach to be their OC. So did Clemson. We know who only is given that opportunity. There are always ex-college players who become successful HS head coaches and then hired by college teams. Your request for more "fancy names" is comical since the dude hasn't coached a single UM DB yet. It's also important to not that Richt and Diaz know just a tidbit more than you about qualified assistant coaches. Rumph's resume more than makes him qualified to began his career as an assistant coach. Your disclaimers have no foundation other than your personal dislike, nothing based in fact.
