Team speed?

First let me preface this with saying this team has exceeded my expectations this year for the most part and I am very happy we are moving in the right direction. Watching a bunch of games on Saturdays I do not see us as a team with Elite football speed. With all the speed in S. Florida how is that possible? I know we have some guys with track speed but I do not feel like it translates to the field. Dorset isn't the best route runner but he has that deep speed we lack.

on offense we have speend with waters and coley but morris cant get them the ball
 
You can't tell me on defense we don't appear slow because of what we ask our guys to do.

We may have a handful of kids who aren't the usual type of Miami guy in terms of speed, but overall, what we are asking them to do makes them appear slower.

The scheme slows our players down. And guys like AJ Highsmith are in super slow motion.

Comebacks, outs, hitches.....all patterns where our receivers essentially stop to catch the ball. We don't utilize our speed in space well except for 9 routes. Crossing patters etc, where are guys can catch in stride and outrun people.

What are we asking our LBs to do that slow them down?

Gaines is just not fast. Cornelius doesn't have elite instincts. Figs is a freshman. Armbuster is improving, but he wans't an all-world Croot.

It's a patchwork in there.
 
figs, grace, elder, artie, carter, aqm, etc are all young. the shannon holdovers are what appears slow.

Thank you and end this thread. DP, our best defensive player, was never fast. We appear slow bc all the upperclassmen we have, left over from Radio ******, are mediocre athletes.
 
People forget we are over achieving by everyone's standards in the preseason.

Enjoy the ride complain about things we wanna see improvement in but we've got the mojo rocking and undefeated to the tune of the best start since 04 so things must be getting better
