Tulane TE transfer Alex Bauman was recently cleared to practice in full, and he quickly made his presence known. He met with reporters to discuss his move to Miami:

On his decision to transfer to Miami:

“I had a great time at Tulane, three years there. Just looking for a new opportunity in the [transfer] portal. Miami reached out and I had a great opportunity here with Coach Woodiel and the team. I’m just excited to get to practice, going through spring ball, getting to know...

Assuming we don’t get an elite WR in the portal, I think we will find out how good Dawson is as an OC.
The best OC’s make use of what they have, getting the ball to the playmakers you have.

In 1988, UM has just lost Irvin, Perriman and Blades to the NFL.
The had 1 WR with experience in A. Brown, a serviceable but not an elite WR, a Young inexperienced Dawkins and Hill.
So Gary Steven’s changed his game plans to match what we had.
The TE and both RB’s had more catches in 1988 Than the starting WR corps. The result was a juggernaut that lost only one game, probably the biggest officiating screwup of all time.

The point is, Dawson should utilize the RB’s, Lofton and Bauman as much as possible if only one or two WR’s step up. I can see times where Lofton might line up in the backfield or as a second tight end. There should be plenty of targets for both TE’s this season, if Dawson has the flexibility to think outside the box.

You do realize that offense we had last year, the #1 offense in the country, didn't have a single elite wr on it right? We had four good ones and zero elite ones... I'd say he already proved capable of doing exactly what you're discussing. The varying factor is quarterback play. Hence why he already came out and said the strength of our team is the front( rb,te,oline) we'll be fine on offense. Just won't be exciting like last year. So for the people who need the ball thrown around all the time to be entertained than that's apparently more important than winning. I'll take the winning side. This year that equation will trend more towards (like you said)a possession offense.

I think he was just being sarcastic cause of woodiel statement last week about how Elijah is. Could be wrong though. Hope so cause I think this kid will be just as big of a target for us this year as Elijah.

Agree with you. I’d love to have some games where we’re not relying on Ward to play hero ball because the defense is shyting the bed.
My point on Dawson is that last year was in his comfort zone. He’s going to need to show he can be creative and patient enough to play possession offense and utilize the RB’s more.
This is where the ST’s is going to have to step up this year and have the ability to flip the field.

Our fans in general suck.

They don't show up to games, they prepare "I told you so's" every single offseason to pat themselves on the back when it happens and disappear like ****roaches when a light shines on them if it does not/we win.

It is what it is.

I won't tell anyone how to fan but it's wild how much wasted time and energy takes place on something clearly making people miserable.
